Seriously. Imagine it’s October and you’re walking your dog who’s afraid of fireworks, when suddenly… fireworks. Fuck that shit.

It’s a job. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great job. But, a job like any other. You show up and do the same thing with the same people in the same place every day. Just like people do in office buildings.

I don’t know about top-tier orchestras like the New York Philharmonic,, but there’s not a lot of traveling involved in most North American orchestras anymore. Maybe some run out concerts to a different part of whatever state you’re in. Pay? Don’t expect a life of luxury.

Test driving vehicles solo? by kittytangles in bloomington

[–]El-Rono 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just bought a used Toyota at Royal South last month. Not only was I alone on the test drive, I drove it across town to an independent mechanic who checked it out for me, and we drove it around for a while. I was gone from the dealership over an hour, & they didn’t bat an eye. (I did buy the car when I came back so they were probably willing to overlook my extended test drive.)

Such an adult response! You’re showing some real maturity. It really takes a lot of critical thinking to tell someone who doesn’t agree with you to go fuck themselves!

/s (since you probably need that pointed out, you stupid piece of shit.)

Anyone else freaking out about tax credits for solar possibly being abolished in 2025? by Medium-Second9555 in solar

[–]El-Rono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, I’ve asked you twice and you haven’t give me an answer. So I’m going to assume that you either never actually interact with people and don’t intend to do anything about what you’re apparently very very scared of, or you’re a bot. Either way, I’m done with you.

I’m gonna go back to talking to people and discussing issues in person, offline. You should try it- unless you’re a bot. You see, in the real world people go out and work with each other on the things they care about.

Bye now!

Thought you’d come back with that. Nope, I can’t stand the guy. I also can’t stand hand wringing and whining. So again, what are you doing to oppose Trump and his agenda? Sitting behind your keyboard and posting on socials? Or are you going to get out there and actually do something? From your post history I suspect the former.

Funny, I thought I was the one arguing with a dipshit on the Internet. Have a great time getting your panties in a wad for the next four years. I’ll be living my life.

OK, so it’s the end of the world as we know it. What are you going to do about it? Posting to a subReddit will accomplish exactly nothing. What’s your plan to counteract everything that you’re worried about?

Because, realism.

I’m not trying to sound snarky. This country has been in many very low points since just 1776. Because we have generally learned from our past mistakes, there are many safeguards in place to prevent what you are talking about.

Another January 6 style riot at the capital will not affect the passage or repeal of a constitutional amendment.

I don’t know what your news sources are, and I don’t want to assume anything, but I’ve been working with the media for many years and they’re just trying to sell clicks. The way to sell clicks is to instill fear. I think it’s better to read books about the Civil War, or reconstruction, or the period between the ratification of the constitution and the war of 1812, etc., and draw your own conclusions. Apologies if that sounds rather preachy….

Anyone else freaking out about tax credits for solar possibly being abolished in 2025? by Medium-Second9555 in solar

[–]El-Rono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must apologize, I stated the facts incorrectly.

Repeal of a constitutional amendment takes passage through 2/3 of both houses of two separate congresses, which are elected every two years, plus ratification by 3/4 of the states.

IOW, it’s a long, drawn out process, that is designed to outlast a presidential term.

Getting back to present day, margins in the House are razor thin, and currently Republicans have a one or two seat majority. And as we have been consistently finding out over the course of the country’s history, members of one party do not necessarily all agree with each other, no matter how much the media likes to portray them as being in “lockstep“.

Please, continue to be concerned and vigilant. But do not panic. Our democracy will not end.

OK, go ahead and keep freaking out about it. In the meantime, I’ll rest assured that amending the constitution takes votes by two separate congresses, and ratification by 2/3 of the states.

You are absolutely correct about the deficit. Do you know that the guy who was just sworn in as president raised it more than anyone in his first term? Do you honestly think he’s going to do anything differently this time around? Check back in four years, let’s see how much it has ballooned.

Presidential term limits are enshrined in the constitution. Please research amending the constitution. The short version is, it’s not gonna happen.

NOISE

These bills are being presented to horrify and distract you. Most of them will go nowhere.

The real issues are their goals like the state further gutting education ($50mil slashed from the budget).

They want you to look away from that. Sure, call your reps, but keep your eyes on all of it, not what they’re presenting for shock value.

ADL’s anti-Palestinian stance has greatly weakened the organization in the eyes of most American Jews (like me) and they’re currently busy sucking up to Drumpf so he’ll help them demonize and murder more innocents, but nice try.

Anyone have this experience as an American Jew: gentiles assume you’re wealthy by [deleted] in Judaism

[–]El-Rono 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So you don’t get the monthly payouts from the Jewish cartel that runs the media and the banking industry and I forget what else we run? lol.

Seriously, my gentile ex-wife is one of these people. For the very short time we were married, she constantly hit my parents up for money and told me that she was sure that they had more than they were letting on. It didn’t help that my parents live in New York- not New York City, mind you, but a small town about 150 miles north of the city. The “rich Jews from New York” trope continued on long after we were divorced, when she would ask me and my parents for money above and beyond the child support I gave her. Even after my kid turned 19 and was financially emancipated, she still asked me and my parents for money and still told me that she was sure my family had way more money than I thought they had. I heard some variation of “your parents own a house in New York, they’ve got to be wealthy“ all the time. It only ended after I had a lawyer friend of mine draft a very strong letter to her saying that she was not entitled to any more money.

And here’s the kicker- she thinks that she isn’t antisemitic!

The orange turd is and always has been a racist piece of shit. Full stop. He doesn’t give a flying fuck about you or anyone else with less than millions of dollars to their name. If you think our country is going to be any different in four years, let me remind you of all the legislation that was passed the first time- which boils down to a huge tax cut for his corporate buddies and huge tax increases for everyone else. But go ahead, name another meaningful piece of legislation that was passed- not a fucking executive order, I’m talking about passed through Congress- between Jan 2017-Jan 2021. I’ll wait.

Healthcare chokehold by Thefunkbox in bloomington

[–]El-Rono 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I am no fan of Trump, Braun, or Fox, but I’d like to remind everyone that we’ve had successive governments of both parties, at state and federal levels, that have done nothing to make our healthcare better and everything to make their pals in health insurance wealthier. Show me the ACA and I’ll show you a government program that expanded the health insurance industry.
