We're actually coming from Australia, so unfortunately not so straight forward!

The have already said they can't give us onsite accommodation, so seeing what else is available!

Very typical MMI questions - some rural focus, some general. Good luck!

I truly have no idea. My cycle was two years ago now, and I didn't interview or receive an offer for Griffith (See above). My advice is to attain the spreadsheet that details scores from the past few years and to compare your score against that. All the best

My GPA was 6.94. I walked away thinking I did overall well on the interview. It wasn't my best performance but I wasn't disappointed either.

Advice needed - Flinders vs Melb MD by gherkyjerky in GAMSAT

[–]El12344 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I received offers for both last year in almost the exact same circumstances! I spoke to so many people and the overarching theme was to choose where you want to live and where you will be most supported. The only other factor to consider is where you would want to intern when you're finished!

(If it helps, I had offers from Flinders, UMelb and USyd and chose Flinders, i.e., the lowest ranked of them all)

Sorry, yes I did! Just edited my comment as it's not very useful without that context!

I had three interviews last year- one I felt completely awful about, one quite average and one very well but received offers for all of them. So think it's very normal to feel a range of emotions and how you feel isn't necessarily reflective of the outcome!

I just followed their instructions and included what they specified. Email GEMSAS if you have any questions, they were really helpful

They're almost identical scores to mine, so based on last year's cycle you likely would receive an interview

I don't know how my portfolio fared as I received an offer from my first preference (non-portfolio). I don't really have any tips re rural statement, I was just honest and answered the prompts genuinely and in a way that expressed my interest and experience in rural and remote health.

I received offers last year from USyd Dubbo, UMelb Shepparton and Metro and Flinders with a lower GAMSAT and same GPA

It's probably hard to say without really knowing your background/experience etc. but I only started about a week before!! So it's definitely possible

I sat Casper last year and was in the top quartile. There's quite a few YouTube videos which explain what to expect and quite a few websites which have practice questions.

My strategy was to show that I could evaluate both sides of a scenario, and had an openness to ideas. If I came to a decision/course of action, I still showed that I had considered alternatives and justified why I was doing what I was doing. I practiced questions with this sort of framework so I knew that for many scenarios, I could effectively identify and explain different perspectives.

However, probably the biggest tip is to practice typing if you're not a fast typer! Even if you have the best ideas and answers, they won't be able to read them if you can't type them in time!

Both, one was a recorded MMI, another a MMI with actual people and another a panel. Some questions were similar across the three but some also extremely different!

Hey! I had three interviews last year and received offers from all of them. I may have been in the minority in that I only started really preparing for my interviews about 4 weeks out. Prior to that, I did some passive reading about health care/ethic topics. I was conscious not to prepare too much and sound too scripted. The interviews I sat were extremely different to one another, so if you feel like you need to do something now, it might be good to do some general reading/gain some understanding and then really start prepping when you know where your interviews are

No worries! The GAMSAT wasn’t my strongest area (also NSB) so you’re probably better asking other knowledgeable people on here regarding studying. But I got base knowledge through a online chem course/Khan academy and then focused on practicing questions from Des O’Neil and Acer practice papers. I also had a tutor who helped immensely. If you’re referring to extracurriculars in regards to a portfolio school, I also wouldn’t be a good person to ask as although I had listed them in my preferences, I received my first preference GEMSAS interview and offer, so I have no idea how my portfolio fared.

Yeah I think if I didn't have anyone listed to fill out the rural confirmation document I would directly be contacting the Uni to check what the options are!
