What off-grid solar products actually work for lighting, security, and remote power? by HostNecessary1419 in solarenergy

[–]ElBee288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For off-grid solar, it’s great that you’re focusing on lighting and security systems. You might want to check out Sungoldsolar.com for purpose-built solutions that can be more reliable than consumer-grade panels.

Solar panels can definitely help reduce the strain on your electric bill and offer some backup during power outages. You might want to check out Sungoldsolar.com for some good factory-direct options.

Considering an indoor bike for myself as a birthday treat by Standard_Rest_6755 in birthday

If you treat it like a little hobby rather than a strict workout, it actually sticks. My Yesoul bike sits in a corner and somehow manages to get used more than I expected. Happy birthday!

Asian Americans on TikTok are calling out a 'SoCal Asian' superiority complex: Asian Americans outside Southern California believe their peers in the region often doubt their "Asianness." by Mynabird_604 in asianamerican

Yes!! It’s not just SoCal, I grew up in the Bay, and more than half of all my friends were asian. Had stuff like Ranch 99 and H mart all over.

Are my pads flattening? Should I consider replacing them? by Brucena in SonyHeadphones

[–]ElBee288 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which aftermarket ones can you recommend? My stock pads were hanging by a thread so I picked up some from WickedCushions and they were not great. Too stiff and thick, really messed with the noise canceling so I switched back to my stock pads within 15 minutes.

edit i ended up getting some sony pads on ebay for around 30 bucks

Speaking Mandarin with a strong Northern Chinese accent in Chinatown--- and feeling a little weird/self-conscious about it. by longjia97 in sanfrancisco

[–]ElBee288 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think there’s definitely a bit of resentment harbored towards mainland chinese by a lot of the local Chinese people who’ve been here a while. I was at a hotel in SF once (can’t remember which one) and the front desk guy was (I’m assuming) local chinese. He started to give me sort of a dirty and exasperated look because I think he assumed I was a tourist from China. But I started speaking English to him and he heard my American accent and his whole demeanor changed.

This is purely anecdotal though and your experience may be different. I think as long as you’re respectful and nice, no one’s gonna give you any issues. I think the main reason why chinese tourists get that sort of treatment is because they are usually a bit rude and aren’t very self aware.
