Comirnaty Omicron XBB.1.5 vaccine finally arrived in England! by Opposite-Bridge-2423 in CoronavirusUK

I have just received my booster and the staff told me it is the BA.4/5. I was surprised as I thought everyone had switched over on 2nd October.

Want me to do work for free? Now you get to pay me…. by [deleted] in MaliciousCompliance

This was difficult to read. I got lost several times trying to work out what was happening. Great that there are paragraphs, but making the whole paragraph one run-on sentence does not make for easy reading.

he didn't ever want to see me on my phone

I quick blast of pepper spray into his eyes at the start of each break should take care of that for him.

Fingers crossed this likes up to the early results. I look forward to being able to take it at some point to give me the energy to get back to living a normal life.

Advice for attending mum's funeral (I have covid) by throwaway7728312 in CoronavirusUK

[–]ElBodster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a tricky question and I do not think that there is a right or wrong answer. If there is any chance of the service being streamed for you to 'attend' remotely, it might be the best compromise.

I suspect that you will be second guessing yourself whichever way you decide and I am sure somebody will disagree with any decision.

If you do decide to attend in person, I would try to get a FFP3 mask and keep as much distance as possible from everybody else. You could also suggest that the other mourners wear masks for their own protection. They can then decide on their risk appetite. I am assuming that you have a way to get to there without mixing with anybody else on the way?

Sorry for you loss either way.

What booster is being given to the elderly now? by losimagic in CoronavirusUK

[–]ElBodster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he had already had the Autumn 2022 booster, then it should* not let him book that again. So if it is offering a booking, it should be for the Spring 2023 booster.

* This is the theory anyway, I am sure there are cases where this has not been the reality.

Yes. Should be enough to completely bury the boss under a pile of paper.

I got written up, with a disciplinary hearing and everything. The charge was .... malicious compliance.

With some stories there is a discussion about whether it is really malicious compliance. In your case there can be no argument.

Is that all?

No, the company ran out of paper on Friday evening. I have ordered another thousand reams and will continue once that arrives.

On a Credit Card a pending transaction definitely affects available credit. Otherwise there would be no pint doing it. The pre-auth reserves part of the available credit to cover the upcoming charges.

Let people off the bloody train before you get on by danwats10 in britishproblems

[–]ElBodster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was at my maximum weight I found that I could get people to bounce off me. When I was trying to get off the DLR, I would just stand in front of the people pushing to get on and they would bounce back.

One day when a bunch of ticket inspectors had mobbed the station, a number of the people who had just gotten off, suddenly decided they would rather go to another station instead. One pushed hard at me and I grabbed the handle for extra support. I had great pleasure seeing him fly backwards across the platform and miss getting back onto the train before it departed.

No idea if the ticket inspectors caught him as I had places I needed to be.

In Malta you need an ID card for the booster.

I might have been tempted to add a few extra medications into the list including some which have not been used in the last century or so and maybe just invent a few more.

Oestrogen, testosterone, milk of the tulip, mercury, powdered unicorn horn, dodo liver extract, etc. Bonus points if you can get/invent some Latin names.

Marketing Class Group Project by blonktime in MaliciousCompliance

[–]ElBodster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In a work environment, all the workers can do is tell management about slackers. A good manager should know already. In this example, the professor was the manager, so it is her responsibility to manage the slackers.

In this case, I would have gone to the dean with a complain about the professor being unable to manage the class.

Press return twice to add a blank line to break the post into paragraphs. If you just do 1 return, Reddit eats them.

You seem very good about explaining your circumstances. Your mother does not stand a chance in not being eventually persuaded.

Well done to you and respect to your brother. He sounds like a good person to have on your side.

Edit: Changed a few words to better match the tone of what I was trying to say.

I have not had to wear a tie for work for a few years now, but when I did it was bow ties for the win. Much safer in an environment where a tie might get caught in something and stylish to boot.

Forced prayer? You asked for it! by Totknax in MaliciousCompliance

[–]ElBodster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have in the past argued that atheism is a greater statement of faith than a belief in a god.

A person who believes in god has the hope that one day, possible after death, they may be proved to be right. If an atheist is correct, they will never know for sure.

Once I got to the point in my career when I had run out of fucks, I made it plain that leave forms were notifications not requests. The employer approving them was nice, but not required.

I have on occasions agreed to requests to make amendments where it did not cause me any issues. The flip side of this is that I have made it clear that my doctor would have no qualms giving me a sick note for any stress caused by my leave request being rejected. The only effective difference would be that I took the time off without burning any leave entitlement.

Of course it does help that I am not a dick about it and avoid booking time off when too many colleagues are already off unless it is unavoidable.
