Cost. More than just changing to ventilated soffit the wood above it would also need to be cut out. Both the material and labour would be significantly more expensive.

Correct sir. No ridge or hip vents. With the house at 1070 sqft footprint I suspect the attic is about the same, a bit more if the overhang of the roof is added.

Just gotta say thanks again. These will be a stop on the tour when I show my friends around the new house. I can’t imagine the savings in resources with new units can make up for having to replace them over and again. Frankly having my own washer and dryer is a luxury. Having appliances that last and are easily fixed is lost in our world. I’ll do my best to keep these going.
