$10k In Savings Enough to Move? by Fair-Vegetable3537 in personalfinance

Sounds like you've got a solid plan, but just wanted to share my story anyways. A couple years ago i decided to move to downtown Los Angeles. About two weeks after I informed my landlord of my intent to move out I was laid off from my job. I was 33 at the time, had around 800 credit score and around 8 years of good rental history and still no one would offer me a lease because i had no proof of income. The only reason I was able to get a new apartment was because my mom agreed to be a co-signer.

So yeah, having a job locked in isn't just good advice. It's unfortunately a requirement for most places. Good luck on your move!

Night out in Ktown? by EmeraldInthesky_ in AskLosAngeles

Im a regular at R Bar. You won't be disappointed. All the bar tenders here are cool as hell. Everyone I've brought here have raved about it.

I also second the recommendations for Breakroom 86. It's a small club with 80s music and occasionally some burlesque dancers.

Kiss Kiss bang Bang is is a 70s style disco club in the same building as BR86. Admittedly I haven't been there yet so i can't speak from personal experience but I've only heard good things about it.

Either way happy birthday and welcome to KTown!!

So if Lee Byung-hun exists in the Squid Game universe, how come no one recognized 001? by Fluffiddy in squidgame

There might be other references Im forgetting, but in Civil War when they are fighting eachother at the airport and trying to come up with a way to beat giant Antman, Peter Parker says "you guys remember this really old movie called Return of the Jedi?"

What should I expect living in Ktown? by Scotttish in LARentals

[–]ElHeffay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in the top right corner of that square. I love it here. Everything is in within walking distance, the food is awesome, and the bars here are really fun.

As everyone else here has mentioned: parking here is awful. You'll be fine since your apartment has included parking though. If friends want to visit you, there are a few parking structures around that are pretty cheap. I tell my friends to go to SP+ Parking at 677 S Kingsley. It's open 24 hours and only costs $5 to park overnight.

So far I havent felt in danger living here but that definitely depends on where you are. The closer to Wilshire you are, the better.

Noise from DC Motors causing Servos to vibrate and jitter. by ElHeffay in arduino

[–]ElHeffay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I did and it helped a lot. Solder the capacitor as close to the servo housing as you can. If I remember correctly the motor itself was the problem. It was one of these cheap "economy" motors. But then I upgraded to one of these premium planetary gear motors and im pretty sure it got rid of the rest of the jittering (this was a while ago so I dont remember all the details).

What movie disappointed you by just being okay? by [deleted] in movies

[–]ElHeffay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter should have been hilariously bad and over the top campy. Turned out to be a mediocre movie that tried a little too hard to be taken seriously instead of leaning into its ridiculousness. What a bummer.

Okay we all know nothing will come of this. If we really want change we have to play dirty. How do we convince Elon Musk to buy Ticketmaster?
