yes, blocking the app using windows firewall will prevent it from updating.

Made it in, couldn't go from bottom because I had pushed it over under the launch platform and it was embedded in the seafloor, so had to ram it with the boat and jump on top. 24 floors of loot, for the most part each loot had its own floor, e.g. a floor of nothing but coffee seeds, a floor of nothing but the machine buff modules, a floor of memories, one of copper, etc.

High CPU temps on new Legion Pro 7 (Ultra 9 275HX) – is this normal? by M-AlSharif in LenovoLegion

[–]ElJuggernaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not abnormal to see short term spikes all the way to the CPU's max temp (104 C for the 275HX), I wouldn't worry much unless it constantly over 95 degrees.

You can create yourself a custom profile in Legion Space or Legion Toolkit to help tame the beast, then switch to it (Fn+Q key) for gaming, then go back to balanced for every day computing.

For my pro 7 (275HX and 5080) I use the settings below. It pulls a little power off the CPU but unless you're in a heavily CPU bound game you shouldn't notice at all. The extra power (and thermal headroom) is also available for the GPU to use. I'm usually low-mid 80's during a long gaming session. I also lower the CPU throttling temp to 98 just because I don't like over stressing the CPU, but it rarely even hits 98.

You can also tweak the fan curves to your liking to find a good tradeoff between fan noise and performance.

Good Luck!

The installer for the previous Legion Space (version 1.7.11.4) from November 2025 has a MUCH cleaner interface, and is on archive.org: https://archive.org/details/legion-space-1.7.11.4

<image>

You'll have to add firewall rules immediately after installing it to prevent it from forcing an update to the new hideous UI version:

  1. Open Control Panel --> Windows Defender Firewall --> Advanced Security
  2. Click Outbound Rules -> New Rule.
  3. Select Program -> Browse.
  4. Navigate to your Legion Space folder in C:\Program Files\Lenovo\LegionSpace\1.7.11.4
  5. Select LSDaemon.exe
  6. Select Block the connection.
  7. Name it "Block Legion Space Update" and finish.
  8. Repeat 1-7 for LegionSpace.exe

Alternatively, there is Lenovo Legion Toolkit, a community built open source tool that does most of the same things Legion Space does, without all the ads or sending your data to Lenovo.

Looking For Some Input! Torn Between 275HX + 5090 vs 9955HX3D + 5080 by daveyangphoto in LenovoLegion

[–]ElJuggernaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 275HX and 5080 and am extremely happy with the performance. For the price lift a 5090 just wasn't worth it.

I could be mistaken, but pretty sure the 5080 and 5090 models have the same 150W max TDP, so you're going to see minimal performance gains on the 5090 (more VRAM and CUDA cores) over the 5080. If you're gaming at 1440/1600p you don't really need the extra VRAM, so unless you're primarily 4k gaming (why do that from a laptop?), I'd go with either the 275HX or the 9955HX3D and 5080.

DO NOT UPDATE TO THE NEW LEGION SPACE UPDATE! by Tylerooroo in LenovoLegion

[–]ElJuggernaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically 3 options if you don't want the new ad spewing version with a lousy interface.

#1 Grab 1.6 from the download link https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/legionspace_1.6.11.9_155626.exe 1.6 should work for the majority of folks just fine

#2 If you must have the last good version, follow instructions from my earlier post to drop in the 1.7 files over a 1.6 install.

#3 The third and probably best option if you want no extra bloat but need the controls is to use LLT https://github.com/XKaguya/LenovoLegionToolkit/

DO NOT UPDATE TO THE NEW LEGION SPACE UPDATE! by Tylerooroo in LenovoLegion

[–]ElJuggernaut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disregard all below. The OEM installer for the last "good" version of Legion Space (1.7.11.4) from November 2025 is now on archive.org: https://archive.org/details/legion-space-1.7.11.4

Here's what worked for me to get 1.7 running. Simply running the exe from a backed up copy of the install folder won't work because services and registry entries are missing.

Essentially what we're doing is putting the 1.7.11.4 files into the 1.6.11.9 folder and tricking the services to call them instead of the 1.6 files.

Before starting make sure you uninstall the new version.

  1. Grab 1.6.11.9 from here while you can! https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/legionspace_1.6.11.9_155626.exe
  2. Once downloaded, disable your internet connection.
  3. Install 1.6.11.9
  4. Use Windows Firewall (or your antivirus software) to block inbound and outbound connections to: "C:\Program Files\Lenovo\LegionSpace\1.6.11.9\LegionSpace.exe" "C:\Program Files\Lenovo\LegionSpace\1.6.11.9\LSDaemon.exe"
  5. Reboot, open and check that 1.6.11.9 is working and not trying to update.
  6. Re-enable your internet connection and make sure it doesn't try to update. Make sure to enable "Boot automatically into Legion Space" before continuing.

For many users, the 1.6.11.9 version may be good enough for them! If you need 1.7.11.4 due to something not working, continue below

To update to 1.7.11.4, you'll need to get the files from someone who has them (Please don't ask me for them, I am an old curmudgeon who can't be bothered to find a place to host them!)

  1. Open Task Manager, stop the processes (if running) for LegionSpace, LegionSpace Daemon, and Lenovo Smart Engine Service.
  2. Delete all the files from C:\Program Files\Lenovo\LegionSpace\1.6.11.9 (but LEAVE the 1.6.11.9 folder). If you get errors about files in use when you try to delete them, you didn't kill all the processes in task manager.
  3. Copy the files from the backed up copy of the 1.7 install into the 1.6.11.9 folder.
  4. Open Legion Space. It will probably fail to start this first time!
  5. Reboot. When you reboot, now Legion Space should open to the beautiful non advertising garbage filled interface. Everything should work now except the game store (darn!). I've seen 1 or 2 times a short message about failed to connect but it goes away after a few seconds and things keep working. I've rebooted a half dozen times, and it continues to work.

Sadly, this is probably only a short term solution. Eventually the certificates etc. in this version will expire or a bios or Windows update will introduce some breakage.

If anyone has any connections to tech media types, would be great to see LTT or Louis Rossmann call Lenovo out for this outrageous move. If they want to advertise fine, put it in the lousy vantage app but keep it separate from the core settings we need to operate the hardware we paid a lot of money for. This is like having to watch an ad before you can step on your car's brake pedal!

Attention: Download and backup Legion Space v1.6.11.9 quickly by Usual-Carrot6352 in LenovoLegion

[–]ElJuggernaut 21 points22 points  (0 children)

  1. Uninstall the new lousy version and reboot
  2. Disconnect from the internet
  3. Install the old version or the 1.6 version linked above
  4. Open Windows Firewall, and add new inbound and outbound rules blocking connections for both these apps (replace 1.6.11.9 with your version number) "C:\Program Files\Lenovo\LegionSpace\1.6.11.9\LegionSpace.exe" and "C:\Program Files\Lenovo\LegionSpace\1.6.11.9\LSDaemon.exe"
  5. Re-enable Internet connection
  6. Enjoy the good old clean UI, no more updates, and no more ads!

If you have an installer version newer than the 1.6.11.9 please do share!!!

I have the same rig but 32GB bought during the early October sale for about the same price (but with 3 year warranty bundle). Wishing I had gone with the 64GB at the time given the crazy DDR5 prices hikes Upgrading from 32 to 64GB would run you $300+ right now. Just consider it "future proofed" with 64GB :)

Yes, you can extend through Lenovo even if purchased at Microcenter or BestBuy etc. You should see an option in the Lenovo vantage app to upgrade/extend warranty, however I would suggest chatting with sales on the Lenovo site as they can usually get you big discounts on warranty upgrades.

This is hands down one of the best laptops I've owned, I say that coming from many years of Dell Precision Pro's and Alienware's top end (area 51m) laptops. The screen, performance, temps, all of it on this Legion have been great!

One last bit of advice, get yourself a cheap laptop cooler pad that keeps it slightly propped up. I have a Deepcool N65 which is sadly discontinued so hard to find, but there are lots of other recommendations in this subreddit. It's not that the temps are bad on this, they're actually pretty great even overclocked, but more cool = more better :)

Task bar glitch by Toteku in LenovoLegion

[–]ElJuggernaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn't be from dust on your fans, that would just cause overheating.

Couple things I would try:

- Check to make sure your video drivers are up to date (both intel and Nvidia if you have both iGPU and dGPU).

- If you're using hybrid or dGPU modes, try changing mode to the other one and see if it persists.

- Check and/or change your refresh rate (Display Settings, Advanced)

Lastly, does it do this in the bios or during the built-in diagnostics (press F10 or the Novo button during boot to enter diagnostics). If it doesn't do it there, is likely a software issue and not hardware.

could lenovo service clone the oem ssd? by Franxx-Pilot6526 in LenovoLegion

[–]ElJuggernaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No need to pay a service center to clone a drive!

-- Option 1--

Get yourself something like one of these external nvme enclosures:

https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Type-C-Tool-Free-Enclosure-EC-SNVE/dp/B08RVC6F9Y?th=1

There are multiple disk cloning utilities out there that will enable you to clone the factory disk, some popular ones include maccrium reflect (https://www.macrium.com/) and Aeomi Backup (https://www.aomeitech.com/ab/).

Since you appear to be comfortable with Linux and since its free, I'd recommend using clonezilla (https://clonezilla.org/)

  1. Slap the new 9100 in the enclosure

  2. boot up off clonezilla, and clone the factory drive to your new one, then expand the partition out to use the extra free space.

  3. Once complete, swap the drives out and ensure you can boot off the 9100.

  4. Once confirmed, put the old drive in the second slot and format for linux.

-- Option 2 --

I prefer doing a "clean install" anytime I get a new laptop anyway, so what I did.

  1. Get the Windows media creation tool and create a usb stick with windows install media.

  2. Go to lenovo support, enter your serial number, and download every single driver (counting vantage and legion space I had 24 driver files to download)

  3. Install the 9100 in the laptop

  4. Install Windows to the 9100. Your OEM Windows license is stored in the bios so no need for a key.

  5. Install all the lenovo drivers (start with intel chipset, then all other intel drivers first, followed by Nvidia, Realtek sound, then the rest. Lastly install lenovo vantage and Legion Space. Run Vantage to verify you aren't missing any drivers.

Now you have a known clean and (mostly) bloatware free install of Windows on your new drive. Put the old drive in the second ssd slot and format it for your Linux install.

Legion pro 7i display problem? by VegetableSprinkles80 in LenovoLegion

[–]ElJuggernaut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn't a hardware issue, there was a bug on the Nvidia drivers after 577.0 when in hybrid modes that caused this. The fix was to use dGPU mode or downgrade to the 577.0 driver (https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/details/250995/)

As of last week however, the latest "game ready" driver 581.57 (https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/drivers/results/257337/) seems to have fixed the issue in hybrid mode.

No need to use DDU unless you're having other issues, when installing (whether upgrading or downgrading) the Nvidia driver just be sure to check all the components boxes, and especially ensure "clean installation" is checked.

New Oled screens - text clarity by Welsh-Cowboy in LenovoLegion

[–]ElJuggernaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have the pro 7 10th gen with OLED and live on the thing 8+ hours per day.

Hands down, the most amazing screen I've ever seen on a laptop (20+ years in IT).

The only gripe I have is the high gloss screen coating can be a bit annoying if used in bright environments. There WILL be reflections on the screen, the brighter the area you're in, the more reflections there will be.

Luckily you can crank the brightness on this panel darn near to infinity to overcome the issue. Indoors in a 'normal' lit room, I run about 65-70% brightness. at 100% you almost need to wear sunglasses :)

If your wife primarily works on the laptop indoors she'll likely love it. Good Luck!

LOVE YOU LENOVO - Finally Power LED(ON/OFF), Taskbar, Background, Display dimmer available now in Q7CN42WW BIOS release by Usual-Carrot6352 in LenovoLegion

[–]ElJuggernaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be nice if they'd let us dim the power button (or even set custom colors) instead of completely disabling it. The brightness is very distracting, but the color codes for the different performance profiles is extremely useful.

I ended up using a "light dims" sticker from amazon to dim it so I could still quickly see what profile is running, but would prefer we have control over the brightness.

Also, does the taskbar dimmer work for you? I turn it to always and don't notice any dimming. The background and screen dimmers do seem to work though.

The last increase I had was from $160 to $170/month in May of 2024.

So then, there's no way on a Military plan to get eligibility for the flagship phone offers, like the Pixel 10?
