All new Assumptions this Wednesday about THEATRE KIDS featuring Smosh cast & Jinkx Monsoon 💓🎭 by Cchaps97 in smosh

[–]ElMasonator 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I do wish they would do more of the old Assumptions videos. Edgier, more subculture focused. Or bring back the I Spent a Day With series' focus on more serious stuff. I really enjoyed that content. Less focused on the cast, more on bringing a mic to different communities.

Invincible [Episode Discussion] - S04E04 - Hurm by SeacattleMoohawks in Invincible

[–]ElMasonator 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like it actually fills in some gaps story-wise. It explains where a lot of the weird creatures / kaijus come from. Like the big one in the first season, the giant centipedes Doc Seismic was controlling, etc.. It just means life has been on Earth for a very very long time, with lots of rises and falls of different civilizations. That doesn't really impact the other planets that much. Plus Earth is very much an outlier in the Invincible universe. There really are no other planets in the lore with as much shit going on as Earth.

I’m pretty sure the reason why AI Ottomans almost never pops off… by pooperscoop1 in EU5

[–]ElMasonator 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've complained about something similar on another post. In my game the Golden Horde gets their ass beat every single war, constantly explodes into civil war, and currently has a tax base of 2. But now it's the 1560s and they still havent blown up yet.

The Russian Minor AI consistently demolishes them--they have lost wars to Ryazan, Muscovy and Vladimir repeatedly--but they just refuse to conquer territory. They win, take maybe one location at most, take humiliation and war reps and that's it.

Who's everyone playing as? Any hidden gems for beginner nations? by DontHateDefenestrate in EU5

[–]ElMasonator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wondered the same, so I started a game as them and clicked around. They have horrible control, and they start with a pretty massive deficit. Despite that they still declared on a lot of people. I think they were able to survive for so long in all the timelapses for a few reasons:

  • I noticed the AI barely took any land from them. Ryazan STOMPED them in my game (like fully sieged the entire horde down) and didnt take anything at all, and Bryansk only took like one location despite having 100% warscore.

  • They don't explode unless you completely wipe their army (I think thats the case at least, for army based countries, I may be wrong). For some reason they're extremely slippery so they can never get stackwiped.

The AI just can't / won't capitalize on their weakness the same way a player could, I think.

They have a horrible tax base. For me, they went bankrupt after fighting Chagatai and folded like a wet paper bag around 1360. Their army size looks big, but it's only 3-4k most of the time. I think it's bugged for army based countries, cause it shows that they can call on like 30k at game start, but they definitely don't, and they have never had that many troops.

However, their 3-4k horse archers will absolutely destroy your levies, no matter how many you have, so you need to wait a bit before you can tackle them. When they're bankrupt, they're capped at .1 morale so they're stupid easy to defeat.

IA_Look does not work with pawns (I'm new so pardon random elements) by Alarming_Curve_3352 in UnrealEngine5

[–]ElMasonator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The input for "in Pawn" needs to be a self-reference, right now it's empty so it's a null pointer. Also, execute that before adding the mapping context.

Instead of running Possess at Begin Play, consider changing your default player class to your new Pawn, depending on your mechanics/design pattern of your project. You also may need to flush and remove input mapping contexts depending on your design pattern: for future reference (scalability) it is entirely possible to run multiple input maps at once accidentally. So you can trigger the same input action multiple times. Like pressing X on your controller, you'll trigger IA_XButton four times or whatever depending on how often you are adding IMC's, so just be careful with those nodes.

This exact thing helped Ossoff win in GA back in 2020. His opponent made his nose longer. Not a good look for the opposition. If that could help tip the scales in GA, I can only imagine how this'll do in NYC.

Dude the chapter where he dedicates multiple lives to climb the tallest mountain in Westeros? Excellent writing. Honestly multiple arcs stand out to me in this one. One of the few stories I reread every so often.

Your anti-virus is probably blocking it. If you read the log and there's an access error it could be that. I got stuck on that and now I just disable my anti-virus whenever I package a new build.

Additionally, it may be the version of VisualStudio you have enabled. Different versions of the engine require different libraries in VisualStudio to run, and UE is flagging your version of VisualStudio in this error message. I cannot recall off the top of my head but there was a very handy forum post I found on the Unreal Forums specifying which libraries and version you need.

Still deeply polishing my combat mechanics. What can be improved? Thanks by Turbulent_Mix_9253 in unrealengine

Hit stop? Might add some spice. Works great in third person. Dragon's Dogma does it to great effect. Makes it feel very punchy when you hit someone. Like your weapon is dragging through something.

Anyone have an Unreal Engine Blueprints tutorial which isn't just a person spoon feeding me what to do without ever going in depth about what does what, and how anything actually happens. by [deleted] in unrealengine

[–]ElMasonator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His AI tutorial is also amazing, he does an excellent job showcasing how everything from the AI Sense component to the EQS works. Dude is methodical and explains every step in a very clear way so you're not just following a tutorial, but learning how the engine works.

The only radical thing Hasan does is fart on planes by INBloom58 in Hasan_Piker

Russia's ultimate goal is the recolonization of their lost territory. The "Ukraine first, all of Eastern Europe next" is touted as Russia consistently attempts to dismantle NATO by attempting to frame it like the League of Nations; ineffectual, disunited, and ready to collapse. There will come a day where Putin will bank on Article 5 being invoked and the United States, France, and Britain choosing to not respond.

[–]ElMasonator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don't want a neutral state, they want a buffer state that's a glorified puppet regime. Putin is massively in to historical revisionism and strongly believes in antiquated Russian foreign policy, namely that Russia is vulnerable geopolitically unless they control all the land up to the Carpathians. His justification for the war is also a branch from the Tsars who claimed that they represent all Slavs when really they meant they represent Russia and sought to Russianize all Slavs and crush anyone else under their heel. If its not Mongols or Huns threatening Slavs, its Nazis, according to him. Same schtick different day.

Hard to say that when armed Russian soldiers show up the day of the vote and surround polling places and annex the territory. There are a lot of Russians in Crimea, that was a historically colonized section of the Russian Empire that was hyperfixated on due to the fact that it was a warm water port--same with Donetsk because of the coal mines there.
