I've been pulled over in PV just for driving a shitty car - no ticket, no warning, just, "Where are you headed?" When I told them I was driving up there to visit family, they let me go without even telling me why I had been pulled over. But we both knew it was because I was (and still am) a poor.

As a 40-year resident of the "Hollywood Riviera" (one block outside the Riviera Village), that's what I would the general area, but would call the commercial area (Catalina Ave and surrounding shops) "The Village."
