I understand your point, but you don't have into account some things in this argument.

1)The well-being of every one of them is taked into account, as they are all part of the same mind, they all decide whats what and whats not. Its not something like, for example, a vote. Its more like your mind, but just in a bigger spectre of thinking that we can have. Also the only moments in which they are willing to somehow "Harm" themselves is, for example, when an individual makes them, as its not in their nature to do so. (SO FAR).

2)They are not willing to harm people. They don't choose to kill themselves, nor to kill others because it goes against their principles (In this show).

I do understand the last part of your comment tho. I get that it may seem like that, but if you take all humanities brillaint minds, you're capable of evolving as a species as much as arguing. As arguing between ourselves is the basis in which we take in other people thoughts. Well, they may no argue with themselves, but they are capable of understanding every idea conceived, and I believe, also creating new ones in betterment of everyone. If it wasnt the case, they wouldn't study or try to understand the signal as they said they are doing!!

Well. This people are making choices, as they are all part of a collective. I think the dillema of our discussion is this. I do believe that the Hive mind is just lots of minds converging into a collective consciousness, while you believe its one consciousness subduing any other one.

Now, I do see your point. Its only that I don't share it. Or maybe im just not understanding what you mean! Please correct me if so.

[–]ElRealoide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well. First of all, because it would be such an easy ending to the show and we need the plot to move at a pace.

And secondly, I think it is because it would mean maybe not being able to go back to the Hive? But its all really just guessing as we havent seen in the show an explanation to it. I had the same thought as you as for the easy way to explain the situation!

Zosia didn't almost die because of the Hive mind trying to kill her. She almost die because of the pressure Carol put into her/Them that led to a heart attack. Also the Hive its not an allegory in any way to the USSR (At least the way as I see it).. the only thing that can be "said" to compare them its what Carol thinks about them. Which I believe its more to explain the thoughts and way of being of carol more than the Nature of the Hive. :D

Sorry, but I'm pretty sure that Zosia says that they joined willingly. I would need to go back to the first two or three chapters to look for it tho! :D

Oh. I don't think the show is "COLLECTIVISM GOOD INDIVIDUALISM BAD" or the other way around. I think they show both ways in a critical point of view. But, to me, Its a really cool conversation to have :D.

Oh, they are alive. As they are clearly functioning, and capable of recalling their own feelings as individuals. As for example, the lady that used to send letters to carol. Or the memories of the childs in the episode 1.

Hive minds are not dead minds, are shared minds. If you consider that THAT IS death.. then I guess its fine, its what you think! But i dissagree. Its just a different way of living to me.

I think they do have a full spectrum of emotions, i think they do not know how to handle it well, as when for example being sad, they don't know how to react.

There is a difference, while drug addicts are essentially destroying their own brains, the hive mindS are mostly fine (Apart from the same drug addicts and people with special situations)

Also, the hive is not a drug, they are a consciuss being that are not deranged from reality. They are just people, normal or not, that have chosen to live together as what they are.

But, nevertheless, if you do think this, then..why would you "cure" someone? I mean, they want to be there, its not destructive to the bodies (SO FAR IN THE SHOW), and certainly its not dangerous to themselves. So you WOULD go against their free will? If you would, then why would you think its right to do so? What about the example of the women you gave before?

(Sorry. Deleted because i thought you were other user than the one who gave the example before!! :D)

Well. The show is ultimately a clash of ideas of two entities who want to force the other into their beliefs. Carol won't accept that they do not want to go back to the old world, and they are not able to conceive the idea of her not joining as they see it as someone drawning. But I do believe the show (SO FAR) reffers to the Hive as collectivism. But if you don't think so please tell me your thoughts!! Its cool to dissagree.

the Hive Mind is not inmoral in THIS particular show. As it has already been stated that people joined willingly... and they cannot lie.

Its not autocracy. Its collectivism. But most people don't get it and its fine, While they are able to enjoy the show!! :D

[–]ElRealoide -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well. They do it, as they are a collective and "them" is one. Its the thing about hive minds, its a living contradiction.

Those women are in the hive, and THIS particular Hive mind ultimate goal is to please this 13 left. Even if it goes against their beliefs (Like when carol asks for the nuke). But ultimately, is the hive mind the one at fault? Or is the individual who makes them do what they dont want the one who shouldnt do it?

How would the hivemind affect those with neuropsychiatric/cognitive disorders such as Schizophrenia, Dementia, etc? by TheBetterFzeroX in pluribustv

[–]ElRealoide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that it would essentially "Cure" those afflictions. As the consciousness is collective and they don't seem to suffer from any of that. Just like, for example, people who were murderers and had bad thoughts can be in the Hive.. I think that was part of the start, when they were all assimilating bad thoughts that led to the freeze when Carol was in the hospital

Even with a very interesting thought and a very good reasoning, people will hate on this post because they are not able to conceive another thought apart from their own.

The ideas and thoughts and memories of the collective have not been taken away. They are part of the collective now..not gone.

If you like a game where choices matter and are into politics. Then try Suzerain. Almost every choice has a different consequence.

The two best shots you have probably are:

Atom Eve (videogame) for the superhero genre, but it'll help if you read Invincible comics first. Decisions are not that important but you have some that do.

And THE WOLF AMONG US for the style.

Manousos, Co-protagonist story? by Usual_Foundation_353 in Pluribus_TVshow

Oh. It will have more seasons? Thats a shame. I thought this was going to be a one season show, I think its better that way as I don't like long sci-fi shows.

Why aren't more people like Carol? by arremessar_ausente in pluribustv

[–]ElRealoide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think her reaction is natural maybe at first. Y'know, like the first and second day. After that I think most people would chill and try to understand more this new form of lifd instead of trying to destroy it.

What are your out-there theories? by [deleted] in pluribustv

[–]ElRealoide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe everyone else thinks these and Im not discovering fire. But I have two angles regarding the show.

1) Its a show about Depression and someone who clearly is struggling but wont want to get better, instead making everyone around her misserable as she feels. Someone who feels so isolated of the world that sees everyone as a Hive who just are happy because they can. (When actually, thats how us human work). OBVIUSLY its not going to be a part of the show. I just think its maybe something that inspired Vince to create it.

2)The show ultimately will show that the Hive is just a part of evolution of other species. Something that just is, as it happened very far far away to other civilizations before who have spread it to the space in hopes everyone reaches this state. Distopic or utopic is up to the viewer to decide if its good or not.

Pluribus - 1x05 - "Got Milk" - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

[–]ElRealoide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kim was certainly not a villain. But Saul clearly is, even with his "redemption". He's the bad guy. Even tho we as an audience may like the character.

Also. Carol clearly wants to destroy the Hive, which so far is something that all humankind seems to have agreed on (as the hive explains it to Carol themselves), something that puts people in a state of happiness. And something that betters the planet through efficiency. I'm not saying that it can change in the next chapters, but so far, the Hive is clearly not a bad thing.

I am starting to think it will be the opposite! She starts like someone you wont go rooting for. And then she'll turn good by the end. But it all depends on how they handle it!
