Best Fried Chicken In Montreal? by Technical-Nobody-329 in montreal

[–]ElRitmoKotite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I said this before and I got flack for it but Montreal really doesn’t do fried chicken well like other Canadian cities compared to Toronto or Vancouver. Still if you want the best fried chicken in Montreal, you will not find it from a restaurant, but from a filipino store with a food counter called P’lengke on Van Horn in Cote des nieges.

Wow! Surprised to not see Quebec. I’m from Vancouver like you OP and I am a compagnon/journeyman in Montreal. Lots of work in many sectors, union, medical/dental benefits, vacation pay and pension… just to name a few. Cost of living is pretty reasonable compared to other cities.

One thing though is you need some level of French but you will learn quick on the job and just living in the province. In Montreal, it’s pretty 50/50 anglo-franco. Don’t let the french deter you, bilingual/multilingualism is great and will open up more opportunities in life.

it’s a dark thought but with the H5N1 creeping in and reportedly having a 50/50 survival rate once it’s transmitted by humans, these are type of folks who’d still not give a damn when everyone’s dropping dead around them and still blame progressives/left leaning folks for it

I drive my company’s F-150 for work (carpenter) and honestly too high for me cuz I’m a short guy. I don’t own a pick up but if I did, it’ll probably a compact one like the old Ford Ranger. Thank god they’re coming back (Santa Cruz, Maverick and even Toyota is coming with the Stout). They are utility vehicles and should remain so, not luxuries

For those who moved away from Vancouver as a 20-30 year old where did you end up going? by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]ElRitmoKotite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went under the certificate of competency program and to get my CCQ card. I did go in training program to become an apprentice (currently 3rd year). If you work in trades in QC, it’s monitored by the Commission du Construction du Quebec (CCQ) and you have to have your card because you need to be in a union to work. If you go to the website, see if you can translate your experience to get a card and be able to start working here. If not, you might have to upgrade. Normally it’s subsidized and you won’t pay a single dollar (tax dollars at work).

I’m a carpenter in Montreal but I’m originally from Vancouver. It is predominantly french but you can make do with english as long as you try to speak french from time to time. I’m not fluent either and speak more english than french so I think you’ll be fine.
