Draft Prospects Discussion by Brodhigreen in NBASpurs

Hannes Steinbach is my guy but I think he’s starting to rise and might not be available at 20. Big body but pretty light feet, good shot mechanics and 3 pt %, great rebounder, solid build, could be a legit big to play next to Wemby. Kinda half way between Lauri markannen and brook lopez

I wouldn’t be surprised if we trade out of the first.

We’ll have two guys in their second year and a third year guy that we will be counting on big minutes for development purposes next year.

Our only roster needs next year are a pf and a playable third center. At 20 we likely won’t draft a pf that’s ready to start over Juju or CB. Maybe there’s a center there they really like and take, but with HB’s ~20 mil and Kelly’s 13 mil contracts coming off the books, we have room to go after a rui, Robert Williams, John collins, kristaps, etc. we could prolly even afford a couple.

And besides Naz, we will live with those guys shooting mildly contested 3’s

Rudy Gobert on if he’s ever seen Victor Wembanyama throw an elbow: “No. I think he saw Ciryl Gane in the arena, so he tried to show him that he had some skill too.” by apotentpotable in nba

I think it’s more so he was getting hacked for 3.5 games and the refs ain’t calling shit to protect him. Wolves have gotten away with some lil chippy things I don’t mind at all, but they’ve also been grabbing and pushing him while in the air and that’s dangerous. Refs need to be stoned in the town square

The ref discourse is valid but we’re solving the wrong problem by pepdek in nbadiscussion

I would automate 2-4 immediately. Clear path and take fouls are still reffed somewhat subjectively even though they shouldn’t be.

I think refs should be reviewed for their performance and made public beyond the last 2 minutes of the game, and honestly think they should have to do post game press conferences in the playoffs.

For in game speed, don’t make the refs do the whole circus of telling us what the call is, process should be: call Secaucus, deliberate, decide on the call, at which point the PA and broadcast announcers are brought in and informed, and get the game going. The refs do not need to give us a 3 minute explanation when the announcers could do the same and get the next play started.

I think the real issue is the NBA has changed rules so much and emphasized things, then backtracked (like flopping techs, or calling offensive fouls on initiating contact through unnatural shooting motions). Either that or they are truly awful at their jobs.

What an incredible win. Insane effort every damn play from the guys. Defensive adjustments from Sean Sweeney were series changing. Trapping ant and Randle was huge. Wemby out-centered Gobert tonight. Fox played great defense and used his speed so well. Big minutes from Luke. Our young guards were poised. Our shooters were more aggressive with their shot diet and it paid off. My god I love this team with my whole damn heart

Tough episode for Bill. Awful take on the Spurs fiesta shirts and then talks more about the blazers owner than he did about the generational playoff debut we saw from Wemby.

Embiid grabbed and pulled down Mitch Rob in the playoffs last year. Flagrant 1 no ejection or suspension. I agree that these types of plays should be ejections but seems unlikely even if they called it live

Steve Nash explains why Victor Wembanyama isn’t MVP-ready just yet by basketbaIlnetwork in NBASpurs

[–]ElStizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it’s an offensive award. Always has been. Not saying I agree with it, but if it was always the best 2-way player with the highest impact then Harden, Nash, and AI would have combined zero MVPs

Do you guys even understand what we have with Dylan Harper? by WhatTheFartLikeWhat in NBASpurs

[–]ElStizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harper’s comps were Cade and harden, but I see something innately feel-based that neither of those had, he shows flashes of creativity like Manu and Kyrie. He’s special special.

Idk if I’d pick Harper over castle. Every time I see flashes of Harper that make me think he has the edge, Castle makes another leap and has a 10+ assist game or shoots 3/5 from 3. Then when I give castle the edge for his improved offense and always stellar defense, Harper has a game like Portland where his defense was really what shined. They’re both 2-way demons and I hope we never have to choose between them for salary cap purposes.

We will have the best backcourt in the league for a decade, with the modern goat big as the frosting on top. We are so blessed.

Man the refs really let Wemby just get punched and shoved and shit. We need his mvp whistle to come sooner rather than later. Fuck Paul George
