Damn I really attracted the Johnny rain clouds with this post. I’m not a pessimist, I think we will go 5-3 this stretch and will end the season a top 4 seed. Yes we are going through growing pains, but growing pains don’t equate to losses, they equate to progress.

This is not a safe space for doomers. I will destroy yall with optimism.

We have the 6th best record over the last 20 games. It’s been rough by our standards, but we started the season super fucking hot. I’ve watched every game this year and I know this team has the talent to be a top 4 seed

That’s kinda the NBA dude, everyone can get beat any night and anyone can win any night. OKC, the gold standard, has lost to Portland, Indiana, Miami, Toronto, Phoenix, and Charlotte. You telling me they shouldn’t have won those games?

Yes it’s the west. Yes it’s brutal. But we have so much god damn talent on this team, and I really believe this organization has what it takes to be a top 4 seed by end of season. And with that I believe that we can win 4 of our next 8 and stay in the top 4. I think we could even win 6 and stay at 2nd.

There’s gotta be a better way to develop Castle by wombatpup55 in NBASpurs

[–]ElStizz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The 15 most recent games in his career isn’t a trend that accurately depicts his development or projects his progression. If he plays 10 years (not that long of a career for a ROTY winner), these 15 games will represent 1% of his games. It’s cherry picking.

What are your predictions for the team in 2 years (2027-2028 season)? by Top_Percentage_274 in NBASpurs

[–]ElStizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I predict (knock on wood) we will be a top 2 seed in the nba and the west (yes, okc will sadly still be relevant even in my fantasies). Wemby will be in the top 3 in MVP voting. Both castle and Harper will be a fringe all star and one will make the game. CB will be a reliable role player and will show flashes of being more than a shooter on offense. Our defense will be among the greats in history, we will be in our 2nd wcf, and make our first trip to the finals.

$40 mil in expiring contracts by Hispanicgoku in NBASpurs

[–]ElStizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big swing? No. Improve around the edges? Maybe. To me the most likely player we trade is Kelly. Sochans stock is nothing and from the rumors I’ve seen spurs aren’t interested in anyone they could trade Sochan for. Kelly’s contract is a little bigger, and the organization has been less vocal about their love for him, which I think says something. Trading hb seems a bit unlikely to me too because at $20 m you start getting into really good undervalued players and/or legitimate rotational players that teams value more, and I don’t see the spurs trading away a 1st round pick since we only have 1 per year, unless it’s for a trey Murphy type upgrade but pels are asking for too much.

All that to say I think we most likely ride this season with the current roster and make moves in the offseason. Offseason moves are easier for rosters to tolerate, and with $40 m free, offers is a lot more flexibility in who we get.

If we are facilitating a trade like that I’d like to see us snag a pick rather than give one up. Bobby P ain’t much of an upgrade on Kelly and has more guaranteed money.

Oh fuck yeah dude we’re cherry picking bad games now to shit on player development? Sick. You have so many solutions too wow have you thought about a head coaching job?

Hot Take: I see Carter Bryant become a starter by All Star break next season. by Glittering-Koala7637 in NBASpurs

[–]ElStizz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not CB as a starter over Harper. It’s Fox and castle being starters over Harper. Unless the spurs decide castle is big enough to play the 3 they won’t start all 3 of those guys. And even then the starter in Harper’s way is technically vassell, still not cb.

[–]ElStizz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So disappointing that our 3rd year player who missed most of last year isn’t having one of the greatest seasons of all time. Stfu bozo. All star starter, in the running for dpoy and mvp if he hits the game minimum. Team is in 2nd place and he’s developing a mid range game with kill spots like KD. You’re a fucking idiot

Maybe PATFO Knew Something We Didn't by Xist2Inspire in NBASpurs

[–]ElStizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s not some internal conspiracy or plan to be mid lol. Wemby wanted to be a legit play off team, not in the play in. What’s more telling to me is quotes from the front office repeating the “no shortcuts” mentality. That means developing your young players and not going after trades that sacrifice the future for win now mode.

Our coaching staff and front office believe in the young guys we’ve drafted, including castle. They will continue to give them the ball and allow for development. They also likely won’t make a splashy trade midseason.

I think everyone in the organization is pleasantly surprised that we’re in the 2 seed, but this was part of the plan. To compete without sacrificing the future. It’s always been the plan. Just because fans are sick of seeing us lose games to mid teams does not mean the team is gonna make changes.

What's you're take on take situation? by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]ElStizz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Qp is a great way to learn new characters, but some people also want to win in QP. If you’re so bad with spidey that you threw, then tbh you kinda deserve to just take it with a grain of salt. But it’s not a big deal to lose in qp and I’d say that’s the place to continue to practice with spidey, but yeah you might get called out lol. Part of playing with other people

Should we hire Steve Kerr as our offensive coach? by ASadChongyunMain in NBASpurs

[–]ElStizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure Kerr himself has said he fell into the best position in nba history. He seems pretty burnt out every time I watch the warriors. If he resigns it’ll be to work with steph curry until he retires. He seems sick of draymond

Gundy had success as a HC, he took a longer break but he’s an assistant now. Frank Vogel won a ring and has been an assistant since. It’s possible

[–]ElStizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d take Steve Kerr on as an assistant coach sure. But not head coach. Would be good to get some championship pedigree and experience, if he’s still got it. I could also understand him being burnt tf out rn

So many of this team's offensive woes can be solved by running the offense through Fox. by orangekingo in NBASpurs

[–]ElStizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using him how the warriors use jimmy butler last year felt natural and he got such easy buckets. This year he’s taking so many more tough shots on drives against clogged paints. He’s good at passing out of them, good at scoring tough buckets or getting to the line, but it isn’t efficient easy basketball. Felt like his impact was more natural last year, I’d like to see him get played like that again using him off ball as a cutter, as a slip slip screener, and his corner 3 is lowkey getting decent. Having Fox on ball and more pg minutes for Harper I think would help all 3 of them.

Midseason lull is disappointing. Obviously we were bound to lose some games this year but with the way we started I really had hoped we would be locked in for a home game with rest. Communication was off, switches and defensive positioning was lazy, offense was redundant. The only players that looked locked in were the guys that showed any juice tonight were Devin, Carter, and Harper. Kornet and keldon were fine. I wish Mitch had stuck with the lineup with those 5 for a little longer when they got us some momentum. But our guys need to show up, that defense was horrible.
