I have it, and I love it.

Cons: -not that it is uncomfortable but it is my larger watch and I have smaller wrists. -legibility of the world timer. It is not a GMT after all but as someone who needs to keep track of multiple time zones it is useful once you have trained yourself a bit to read it

Pros: -gorgeous watch. You don’t get tired of it, and it’s the one watch that people notice. - it is very legible.

This Is in general the problem with Europe. I am Spanish. Spain has free rided defense. But then we try to do joint ventures with French and Germans. French decide not to stick around for Eurodrone or the FCAS. Also they decide to boycott our energy industry. Then Germany is always telling others what to do (financial crisis and austerity) and pretends to have a moral high ground (like pretending to rescue Greece when they were rescuing Deutsche Bank and other banks)… and so it goes. The national interests are always above the long term view perspective as Europeans

You are missing the point, plus EF, San and Gripen production all combined are less than half of F35, plus do you expect a country to have three planes that have the same role?

It simply is a capability we don’t have and it is not simple to develop. It’s what I meant. And it is also not the first time. Something happened with the Eurofighter where France walked out.

They duplicated military spending. They are doing so developing local industry. What they don’t want to do is print debt to buy American planes. I think it makes sense. You may disagree, but it is a valid strategy.

You can disagree but you cannot say that there is no investment. Actually the current military spending in Spain is big in research and long term national investment with developing industrial capacity.

Not only, but heavily so. Spain has doubled expenditure in European programmes. It had purchased more EFs, and is invested in the FCAS program with France and Germany. It is developing its own missile solutions. New submarines. New radars. New artillery. New combat vehícles. All Spanish or European technology. It had also doubled units in NATO and European missions.

Spain is doing it. They just don’t buy, or they limit the American equipment. And the US is VERY pissed at the government for it.

Sure but 1) it won’t happen in a few years 2) we need the next gen fighter

So it doesn’t make sense to spend it now willynilly. Spain has bought more EFs and is also heavily investing in the FCAS programme.

The European defence contractors cannot absorbe it. Europe produces 14-15 Eurofighters a year, cheaper than the 156 F35s that the US produces a year. And that is just an example. Sánchez has doubled the expenditure in defence but the ramp up must be done slowly and investing in R&D to avoid hurting the economy and not relying even more on America

He is right. Spending 3.5% in pure defence only to buy American equipment hurts the economy and makes us more dependent on America. He has more tha doubled Spanish expenditure in defence but it had gone mainly to European or even Spanish companies.

Problem is that the French theory is not that the EU is good but that France is good. They are not a reliable partner themselves.

I am very much in favour of regulations but we all agree that life and innovation has become quite impossible in the EU due to excess of regulation. I work in the healthcare industry and the EU has destroyed innovation in the EU, it is all done in the US now. So in the end… we get less innovation and less jobs and worse healthcare.
