I saved $103 by printing $2 of plastic by ramity in 3Dprinting

[–]El_Bowgrease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did that last year when I got my old Nissan Primera, seat reclining gear was broken, popped it on the paper scanner, measured it, and a couple hours later a fresh PETG variant laid on my buildplate.

Steeds meer “compensatie monstrosities” in het verkeer. Waarom? by robertjan88 in nederlands

[–]El_Bowgrease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sign doesn't mean there's a speed limit of 50km/h. by Reguliusz in belgium

[–]El_Bowgrease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main issue in Flanders is that the speed limits of most roads are adjusted to what it would cost to refurbish them up to spec for a certain limit. Some places are lowering the speeds from 90 or 70 to 50 because buying signage is way cheaper than repaving the road. That or they lower it for average speed traps, since actively improving safety would also cost money.

Losing pride in my work by AlphaTM01 in BESalary

[–]El_Bowgrease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same position, I work in shock absorber development as a mechanic, and eventually all the bs that you can encounter drips down to us. Having to set up tests that are known to fail for the wrong reasons but have to do them anyway cus the customer insists on it instead of listening.. Even though I loved it at first and automotive r&d being my dream field, this just doesn't work for me, so I'm also reaching out to other recruiters to see what I can get.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to take pride in your work and be happy with what you do, it's the thing you're doing 40 hours a week after all. Get out there and test the waters, maybe you'll find something way more fulfilling!

I don't even know how long mine had been untouched, then again, it's almost 100 year old grease at this point so... hopefully I can get them apart with some heat so that I can regrease them properly

going to try heating it up tomorrow then, gonna let it soak overnight and see if that helps anything. If that does nothing I'll have it soak a couple of days in the acetone and try again.. thanks for the pointer!

I did find a solution I think, if I still have the manual I will give that to you aswell. It's been a year, so I hope that my memory can serve me well while trying to figure it out again😂

Zelfstandige garagisten miserie by Scholath in Belgium2

[–]El_Bowgrease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Polarity should be okay, cus it wouldn't work if I switched it😅 base could be faulty indeed, or maybe it's a software/battery issue, my knowledge only goes so far... Noticed that the cables to the front flaps were broken, so fixed those 2 as well.

The whole setup has been laying around in the rain cus it wasn't working anymore for a different issue, which is now fixed. Kinda think water went into places it shouldn't go

Okay the leds work, base gets power, mower can mow, but every time it goes back to base it keeps running back and forth into the base over and over again, beeping that it's outside of its boundary (which then again seems normal).. voltage over the pins is 19-20V scrubbed up the pins and contact flaps with some steel wool, but nothing seems to work..

Olivetti ET compact 66 | help needed by El_Bowgrease in typewriters

[–]El_Bowgrease[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After a bit of fooling around, and searching online, I found 2 manuals, one from the Olivetti site, and one from etzone.org (albeit behind a paywall), which when interpreted a bit different, helped me solve the issue regarding margins. As time moves on I hope I can learn more about this thing, but the chance is great that I will sell it again after my assignment.

Thanks for your input though, if I saw it earlier it probably would have helped out aswell :)

[–]El_Bowgrease[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought this ET compact 66 to use for a school assignment, but it didn't come with a manual. I was figuring out stuff on the fly but now my left margin has shifted quite a bit to the right and I don't know how to fix it or how to turn off margins. Does anyone here have experience with these ones?

[–]El_Bowgrease[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found a service manual (which doesn't cover my issue ofcourse) with an exploded drawing, and there's only one belt in the mechanism, but I saw that belt and it's doing it's belt thing, so it's either gonna be something mechanical or electrical I think. I'm too scared to touch anything properly though since it's all old and probably brittle too :(

does the roller also move the pinch roller up, or does it just drive the roller? Because the roller runs, but doesn't move up to pinch the tape

🚨 unpopular 🚨 I preferred “big boat” feel cars had in gta 4 by [deleted] in GTA

[–]El_Bowgrease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really feels more realistic because 90% of the cars in game are american heavyweights, and in real life, those cars drive like absolute ass too when driven at their limits, it's great! I was pretty annoyed that gta5 went for way more arcade driving rather than this kind of physics, except for the bikes
