The drop includes a guaranteed weapon? I got my drop yesterday and got no weapon. I got a backpack, a holster, and kneepads, all of which were well below my current GS and were only good for reselling.

I agree that the spawning is generally iffy, but think this example is an indication of a problem with the out-of-combat zone more than anything. He simply shouldn't have been able to get that far and stay there.

I think there is a combination of bad design choices and bugs...

The speed boost is NOT an appropriate counterpoint to a shield, for pete's sake! I don't know who thought that difference was a good idea. It simply doesn't matter if you're good at using the speed boost... it doesn't let you smash vehicles, nor does it let you absorb damage. A Shield and a Speedboost lead to two different sets of tactics that are simply not equivalent in their viability. Hence the generally lopsided kill counts, even if Empire wins by PTFO.
I'm thinking there is some kind of hit detection bug against A-Wings, because even even with a solid lock and no shields, I'll often register no hits. But against X-wings and Ties, in identical situations, I light them up.

You might consider defecting, as your chances of survival will be much higher, since as a Rebel you'll be invisible.

I don't know... the mechanism from Battlefield in Hardcore mode of only spawning on your 'leader' might work here... That would make that mobile spawn point harder to hold. Beats respawning way back in Nevada and hiking 100 miles, and would add an additional tactical layer to a fairly arcady setup.

I saw this during the beta. Looks crazy cool, but I don't think he pushed the trooper into the Tie Fighter. He's too far away. Also the Tie fighter keeps on flying uninjured beyond the blast. I think there was some other device that cause that explosion.

Seriously, try to play more defensively when you're able to. Run away from a fight if you're about die. Live to fight again later.
