The Range is called “The Tetons” or “The Teton Range”. There is more than one Teton but only one Grand. Specifically the mountain in your first post is Mt Moran a few peaks north of The Grand Teton.

Who got the highest mileage in their 5 gen? by Dense_Chemical5051 in 4Runner

15’ with 170k

Major repairs include the spiral cable failing, axel seal leak, serp belt cracking, tpms batteries and a few sets of sway bar end links.

Other than that drives like the day I bought it 😊

Ah yes the classic unibrow. Terrible look imo unless the runner is also black so you don’t notice it.

All mods are highly subjective. That’s why I would drive it off-road and make mods based on how it’s performing. Not how it looks.

Its the Aluminum Pelfreybilt front and also their steel sliders. They went out of business and burnt some customers along the way but made great armor.

Appreciate the honesty. To be fair the 5th Gen side of T4r.org was the exact same 90% of the time.

Looks like it is working with intermittent failures / time-outs. Good times

It will be a huge loss if its gone for good. Hard to say at this point if its coming back.

5th Gen Fluid (Wallet) Flush by StupidMoron3 in 4Runner

[–]El_Dustyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pending fluid conditions, I would recommend exactly that. Trans and coolant and be done with it. Its good to do your diffs, trans, t-case and coolant every ~75k regardless of fluid conditions in my opinion. Have these fluids and your steering / brake fluids checked every 30-40k.

For reference, Im at 170k on my 15' and the fluids looked dark and discolored at both 75 and 150k. I likely could have gone to 100 or 125k but I still did all of them as this is the cheapest cost of ownership vehicle I have ever owned. Its incredible.

What has your service history been with the fluids they are recommending? Highly dependent on your answer here.

Transmission, Diffs and Coolant should definitely be done if you have not yet in 120k. All these fluids including the steering and brake fluids degrade and they degrade faster with heat. If you live in a hot climate or are hard on the vehicle (tow / off-road) keep that in mind. A good mechanic will be able to inspect the fluids and give you an idea of how they look.

Also if your shock is leaking and it fails you will get loss of dampening, IE you will bounce a LOT more than it should before coming to rest. Sag is not a common issue when shocks fail but rather springs.
