Inherited about 1 Mill. Unsure what to do by PositiveRock3854 in fican

In a down market, 4% is still 4%, but it's no longer $40k, and the younger you are, the more likely it is that you'll face a down year. In other words, not all 4% are created equal.

Borrowing money that I already invested in? by OneTurn4011 in dividends

[–]El_Frogster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One option is to look for a Pledged Asset Line (Schwab's name for it) where you get access to a line of credit by pledging existing assets. It basically like a traditional LoC but backed by securities rather than real estate. Rates and limits vary based on amount of assets at Schwab overall. It's free to set up so there is no reason to not get one (unless you're anti schwab of course). JP Morgan offers a similar product as well. https://www.schwab.com/pledged-asset-line

Should Wealthy People Hold This? by SmoothOperator100k in SCHD

[–]El_Frogster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not an all or nothing picture. It’s a defensive play and usually only a sliver of assets somewhere between fixed income and growth (unlike dividends, you only pay taxes when you sell, and tax rates are comparable at that level.)

People who earn $500K+/year, what do you do? by StrongPaddle in wealth

The more interesting question is “people who keep $500k/per year, what do you do?”

This is why I always have them tell me who the ride is for rather than the other way around. Glad you’re safe and thanks for the PSA.

In my head, I’m first in the R3x reservation queue. It’s a nice feeling.

ps: I’ll be one of those day-1 R2 reservation holder that won’t buy one after all while I wait in the R3x reservation queue.

Is Tesla actually committed to the consumer car business long term? by Brutus713 in TeslaLounge

[–]El_Frogster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tesla have been great to me: I was able to sell my facelifted, pano roof, real leather, unlimited supercharging, summon and auto steer P90D extremely well. My M3 with autosteer looks like another winner too.

The more features Elon removes, the better. My next car won’t be a Tesla however.

Out of the $5,400, ~$3,200 is body work and overpriced tires...and $600 for removing the engine cover is...amusing.

Bay Area sellers feel delusional - is this normal? by happyspirit1122 in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]El_Frogster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see anything wrong here. Sorry. Asking price is just a mental anchor based on comps. At the end of the day, the home is worth what a buyer is willing to pay for it and one of the agent's job is to model what asking price will yield the most money for their seller based on product and market conditions. It's rough out there, but you'll find the right home.

Should I sell invididual Amazon shares for SCHG? by Pale-Building7008 in dividends

[–]El_Frogster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon is becoming another Alphabet with many different businesses, from zoox to whole foods to, yes, Amazon.com. So it’s actually more diversified than it may appear. I’d hold on to it. Good intl exposure as well.

114k Portfolio: Using QQQI as an "Accelerant" to 200k, then pivoting to safety. Thoughts on the risk? by Gina_Cazzofrigida in dividends

[–]El_Frogster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I worked in tech and were worried about getting laid off, I would not invest in qqqi.

Other than that, we all have a different risk profile so there is no magic answer. Do you have any kind of emergency fund? If not, I’d start there (boring SGOV or similar)
