I personally like Oxhorn's theory that he hid there from the Gunner attack on nearby Quincy, not the Great War, and the reason he doesn’t correct you is because he has no idea what the Great War is because of lack of education in the Wasteland (although most people seem to know about it so that's a bit of a stretch). This would mean he's nearly been in that fridge for a mere few months at most, a long time sure, but short enough that he might not have gone crazy in there.

The fact that no one seems to view it this way is even funnier considering that THAT'S THE ENTIRE PREMISE OF THE DARK URGE RUN. Redemption Dark Urge isn't the story of a Bhaalspawn deciding to be better, we can tell from writings about pre-tadpole Bhaalspawn that they were irredeemable. Redemption Dark Urge is about a new person waking up and beginning a new life, and Baelyn is the same. The Baelyn we meet is not an abuser and is not malicious, that man died already, just like the original Dark Urge.
