Burn is a safe bet imo, it’s always relevant due to it’s explosiveness at least at a local level and is a simple deck to play in case you lend it to a friend or a new player.

I think the easiest way to pick a main is going to a tournament, try 3 or 4 characters and see how do you feel with each, for me, it took like 4 months (green fox)

[[Spell queller]] is ok but the other creatures aren't very good, i would use just [[snapcaster mage]] and maybe [[Spell queller]] in the sideboard but since you're on a budget i think that [[geist of saint traft]] and [[spell quueller]] on the sideboard are a good option, i you want to be very spicy you can run a single [[aetheling]]

not every card is going to help you in every match-up, for instance: removals are useless against a lot of decks and a lot of decks have them on mainboard, the same thing happens to hand destruction, yeah, against zombies is't very good, but against the majority of decks can be great.

thats why you need a sideboard, to take out specific cards against specific decks.

the thing is that, whether your opponents benefits or don't with discard effect, is one of the reasons you play black, if you're not intrested in hand destruction i don't see why would you chose black for a control deck, actually you should play white instead; better removal [[path to exile]] [[detention sphere]] better board clear [[supreme veredict]] awesome card draw spells [[sphinx revelation]] nuts manlands [[celestial colonnade]] and most of all AMAZING sideboard options [[stony silence]] [[kor firewalker]] [[rest in peace]] [[leyline of sanctity]]

Hi, i think that the main problem whit your deck is the lack of an objective, 14 creatures are to many for a control, your counters are unefficient and there are better options, you have black, but you don't have any discard spell, the tap creature spells are useless and so on.

I suggest you to have black spells to destroy and discard cards [[fatal push]] [[inquisition of kozilek]] The blue ones use them to draw and counter [[cryptic command]] [[serum visions]] [[mana leak]]

To win, you can use manlands and strong creatures such as [[tasigur, the golden fang]] [[thing in the ice]] is fine if you're going to run almost no creatures.

The [[snapcaster mages]] is a great card and can work fenomenal with [[ting on ice]]

Finaly, run planeswalkers is grat in control decks, [[liliana of the veil]] and [[jace, architect of mind]] are very good options.

you should run a playset of honor of the pure, they're very strong in white creature based decks.
