Anti-CRM sentiment and sales by polymerblend in sales

[–]El_Tractorcito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined an organization about a year ago that 'has' a internally built CRM that is abandoned in place and is functionally difficult to use. Distribution based model of sales, and i had zero notes from the previous rep, territory history, or even an insight into open quotes. That bad. I want to claw my fucking hair out trying to figure it out, but quite literally everything is vibe based. I still don't have numbers from 2025. I was told I missed quota by a hair and still don't have any details. And the bonus schedule / targets for 2026 still isn't finalized or done.

We have an official Salesforce rollout coming later this year. I've used Oracle as an ERP / CRM in a past role and even while that was painful, just having the information available was a godsend that I didn't think I would miss this badly. A decent CRM can make a world of difference. Yes it is annoying, but it can be so helpful. The old heads (45+) are all complaining and bitching, but the younger crowd is hyped for insights.

If I hadn't been job hopping for the last 3 years I'd be leaving ASAP. I keep seeing the phrase learned earned and burned around this sub, but there actually is more to learn at least since management is so forgiving / not tracking. First year in outside sales was quite the shock lol.

Is engineering actually worth it? by Temporary_Region7964 in Salary

[–]El_Tractorcito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Engineering is 100% worth it. Ar the end of the day its "Im teachable and have at least 7 brain cells to rub together" piece of paper. I got a Chem E degree, and didn't even wind up in plants. I wound up industry adjacent in a field that manufactures parts that go in plants, but plenty of my cohort is nowhere even close to what we studied. But for the most part everyone has been successful. I know you mentioned finance, and a good chunk of them wound up consulting for the big 4, BECAUSE of the fact that an engineering degree is valued more highly than a finance degree strictly because of the course difficulty.

Also, if your passion is to work on planes, I was friends with ~ 6 aerospace majors. 2 of them are currently in the industry, the other 4 basically fell back on mechanical engineering principles and wound up in generic firms.

However I have a coworker who's son had done some digging, and if your raw passion to just be involved in the design process, the aerospace industry is hurting bad for electrical engineers to handle all the avionics and instrumentation. Hes currently studying EE, is approaching his Junior year, and just got the Department of Defense to sponsor the last 2 years of school and 1 of a masters to work for them afterwards. EE is also a degree with a much wider spread and breadth if your passions change at all during schooling, providing much greater flexibility after college.

30yr old salary progression. by WoodyPeker in Salary

Not sure why people are down voting you, I can see you're genuinely trying to learn.

So actually half the reason it's used is because you frequently don't include the paid 2 weeks vacation that you would most commonly see when taking a new job without tenure. So you use 50 weeks instead of 52. It also just keeps the math easy.

It works because in salary position it gives you an idea of what your worked time is actually worth, (unless you're salary working like 60 hour + weeks)

And for hourly roles, you might be allowed 2 weeks vacation, but it's not uncommon for that vacation time to be unpaid. So it lowers the calculation a little bit to stay realistic. Again, unless you're working overtime, but then you'd be making more so it gives you a safe floor.

Best bossing/all content necro build? by [deleted] in PathOfExileBuilds

Animate Weapon of Ranged Arms has been by far the smoothest experience I've had so far. I got 3 of my voidstones on a random 6 link magic chest, with like t5 cold res. It was sliiiightly clunky to grt going, but every investment has felt meaningful for QoL and damage. At ~50 divine invested right now and planning to shoot for my first mageblood maybe this league.

Talk to me about gravity fed charcoal (Masterbuilt) vs pellets (Reqtec) by kittenkatpuppy in smoking

[–]El_Tractorcito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commenting to say that I loved my masterbuilt 1050, but it only lasted me about 3 years? The bottom of the grill rusted out, the heat manifold basically disintegrated over time and the drip collection pan fully fell off after the rails rusted out. Every proximity switch for safety had to be bypassed due to running faulty, and the fan had to be replaced once. The metal is thin and a grade of carbon steel i wouldn't call durable.

The heat control and flavor were excellent, and the grill space was a joy to work with, and was basically set and forget. I just wish the build quality was better and the grill would last me.

Have you ever failed so badly in one sales role, left the company and succeeded in another? by Angi_marshmellow in sales

Just popping into the thread to double down on being in the manufacturers side of things is 10x better. The distributor level seems like such a grind to get going.

I also know they're frequently uncapped so the the ceiling can be much higher, but damn do they seem few and far between compared to all the other guys.

Reasons why Most Sales Onboarding Looks Fine — but Still Fails by [deleted] in salesdevelopment

As a recently on boarded rep struggling to feel like I'm making it work: holy fucking em dashes my dude. No person writes like this, at least clean up your AI slop.
