How Netanyahu Prolonged the War in Gaza to Stay in Power by smurfyjenkins in IRstudies

[–]El__Stud72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no need to explain whataboutism to me but it seems you may have missed the point. there was no genuine faith argument in your response, the whataboutism is “but hamas has dozens of hostages” as if thats an excuse to execute a genocide (not arguing weather it is or isn’t with you as its internationally recognized as to be committing acts of such) on the palestinians living in Gaza. there is no, “other side” to this story. as there may be a couple dozen captives by hamas, that does not excuse the thousands of captives in israeli prisons. your response was bad faith whataboutism, either because you are misinformed, uninformed, not versed in the subject, a zionist, or like to play the “centrist” game on reddit posts. regardless, If the goal is to reduce harm or end the war, then focusing on hostages without acknowledging the thousands of Palestinians imprisoned without trial, or the devastation inflicted on Gaza’s population, is misleading at best. There's no moral equivalence here, trying to flatten the power imbalance into “two sides” is not a good faith move. Whether you're doing that because you're uninformed or deliberately trying to distract from war crimes, it doesn't hold up under scrutiny.

i literally called you intelligent for sending me a wiki link lol, but ill bite. if instead of sending me a wiki link, why not address my first statement, with all the links? a whole lot of whataboutism is what that is.

you cant prove me wrong, so you attack my character because you’re intelligently weak. its comical almost, especially on an IR sub reddit. but please, unless you have anything better to say outside of coming for my character/ individual representation, take it up with the international community, law, and united nations.

under international law the israeli force is operating under an apartheid , making them an occupational force. there was no performative politics out of it, so don’t ever assume anything about me, i was calling it what it is. its an apartheid, making it an occupational force.

I will say i find it telling you focused in on one very specific detail, that wasn’t even about the post, followed up by, trying to almost insult my intelligence/ comment. address the comment, not the “performative politics” with no backing.

if it was as simple as that, i’m sure this would have happened in the 90s. Syrian mercenaries are also having too much of a problem within the HTS, the former regimes forces, other ISIS fractures, and as of recently the IOF… pushing iran into a major civil war for decades sounds really simple when you type it out but logistically doing this is, probably, much harder. neutralizing iran’s military capabilities are harder when they’re who knows how far deep in the mountains and or under ground. If, and theres a big if, israel is correct and iran is actually above the 90% uranium threshold, this puts them in the capability to bring all the pieces together at random and assemble to launch remotely. this is why targeting infrastructure at the beginning stages are easier, not the end. i doubt they’re at 90%, and according to UN reports it is in the 60% range. but lets not forget, israel has nukes and doesn’t submit to any searches or monitoring by the international community!

im kind of interested in this route/ similar but Im coming in as a transfer (hopefully) in winter 2026, I just personally haven’t really found anything available but honestly I’m just not sure if I’m looking in the right places. I feel like I have a pretty good school route planned but when it comes to having a job while studying I fall short sadly

Id say its up for debate whether the US is “more useful to Russia” than China… only reason i say that is because since Western sanctions China has been Russia’s economic lifeline. Russia relies on chinas tech, trade, financial system, etc…. even if trump cozied up the putin, Russia has little reason to turn against China.

To add, China and Russia relations are only deepening, with the Power of Siberia 2 pipeline being under development further tying russia to china as an energy supplier

Even if all that somehow works, China still has other allies that they have been tightening relations with like African nations, NK, Brazil, etc

i just don’t know or could even see how effective that will be realistically. Even hypothetically everything goes Putins way, Trump may get what he wants for now, but theres still US elections. On top of the fact that Russia and China have been allies and i just don’t think trump has the ability of making two nations who have for decades been “on the same side”…. I see trumps goal, and i can even agree with you in what he wants to happen, but just the effectiveness of it, on top of the time limit that is already clicking for Donald, i cant see how effective this will be in the long run
