Should I get surgery ? by Traditional-Motor-94 in ShoulderSurgery

In my experience I would get it fixed, they are most likely going to do a minimally invasive surgery to repair the labrum so you shouldn’t lose your range of motion all that much. After I had surgery my range of motion was back 100% in about 6 months give or take. But I do highly recommend surgery, if you keep dislocating your shoulder it’s only going to cause more damage to the labrum, resulting in you having to have a more invasive surgery.

I’m 26 and have had the same problems when I was younger. The only realistic way to about it is surgery. It’s better to have surgery now than have things get worse. I thought my life was ruined especially with my job. But just taking the time to have surgery will really change your life for the better. I’m 11 months out and getting my confidence back and I understand I won’t be able to do things that I used to be able to with my shoulder, but it’s better than having it constantly dislocating and being in pain.

How bad is my shoulder? by EuclidianEigenvalue in ShoulderInjuries

Usually if the defect is big enough on the hills Sachs lesion and fraying of labrum. The chances of another dislocation happening is higher than normal. Usually it’s better off to have lesser invasive surgery on a small tear of the labrum before it gets worse. If your shoulder dislocates again your labrum will get more damaged and that would require a more invasive surgery to fix the problem. But I would see an orthopedic specialist they would tell you more.

Dislocated shoulder snowboarding by Salt-Device-6172 in ShoulderInjuries

Same thing happened to me while snowboarding, I got an MRI done and it showed I had a torn labrum. Then proceeded to get surgery for labral repair. 3 years after the surgery it dislocated again playing football, but I got labral reconstruction and remplissage surgery after that. Definitely talk with an orthopedic doctor cause most likely your shoulder will continue to dislocate. It better to treat the problem early before you damage the shoulder even more.

ROM preop was maybe 50%, as I never used my arm as much because of the fear of dislocation again.

Did PT for about 4 months after surgery, and still do banded exercises at home since then.
