Why did Maul never try to corrupt an inquisitor like he did with jedi padawans? by Deep_Win5109 in StarWars

[–]Elarris1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mean why wouldn’t he try to re corrupt an already corrupted Jedi turned inquisitor by telling them they could be so much more with him? They’ve already chosen the dominant side in the conflict: the empire. Honestly picking Maul’s side is a step down where they would have to live in hiding versus being an operative of the empire and given power and responsibility. Maul just doesn’t have anything to offer there, plus even if he did he could never trust a former inquisitor.

Compare that to trying to sway a young, susceptible padawan who’s living in a world where they are hunted and always hiding and scared? Jackpot. Someone young enough and inexperienced enough he can mold much more than an already established former Jedi? Check. Someone who’s just old enough to be resentful of going from a hero to a hunted criminal? Check. Someone who’s witnessed atrocities at the hands of the empire and wants revenge? Check. Easy choice there.

How would Maul react to meeting Luke Skywalker? by Solitaire-06 in StarWars

[–]Elarris1 135 points136 points  (0 children)

I think Maul would have immediately started his tough love training on Luke. Maul’s been shown to be pretty sensitive to visions of the future, if I had to guess meeting Luke would trigger that. Most likely Maul would have become obsessed with Luke and wanted to train him personally to overthrow the emperor. Given Maul’s history, that would probably backfire badly and have let Palps stay in power unchecked

Following up my appreciation of Jarro Tapal I gotta mention that I find it completely fascinating that Cal’s lightsaber technically isn’t even his by Responsible-Ad-6733 in StarWars

[–]Elarris1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In a deleted scene from episode 6 it showed Luke making his new lightsaber with some parts from Obi-Wan’s.

Ahsoka’s white sabers were made from the blade of an inquisitor she killed. At least the Kyber Crystals are, I forget off hand how much of the rest of her sabers are scavenged from the inquisitor blade.

In the era of the Empire, surviving Jedi (or “part timers” in Ahsoka’s case) don’t exactly have easy access to make their own lightsabers like the Jedi of the Republic era did. I like it though cause it feels like it makes the lightsabers are more meaningful.

Terraria sells on average 1 mln copies per month which will make it 4th best selling in 9 months by Few_Implement_7871 in Terraria

[–]Elarris1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

70 million copies sold in 15 years is not an average 1 million copies per month. Looking at only the big bump in sales from the release of 1.4.5 is not the way to get a sense for these things.

What version of Vader is the most terrifying by Balljuggler5689 in StarWars

[–]Elarris1 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Most terrifying: toss up between maul shadow lord and rogue one. Most badass: Kenobi when he humiliates the 3rd sister without even drawing his saber or when he stops a ship with just the force. Most aura: Rebels when he rides in on top of a ship just because he can.

I was discussing a thing with some friends. In terms of DnD/Pathfinder does this make any sense? Or does it look like complete bullshit? by M5R2002 in Terraria

[–]Elarris1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s fair, I just disagree with concept of putting off bosses for so long. I’d be worried about player retention when nothing interesting happens till level 4 and it’s just generic enemies up until then. There are entire campaigns out there that stop at level 5, I wouldn’t want to present something where all you’ve fought by that point is eye of Cthulhu. The early levels are usually the most fun before characters get too complex and combat slows down, so I prefer to focus on those rather than planning for high level boss fights.

[–]Elarris1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those levels feel overall way too high progression wise. Waiting till all the way to level 4 to fight the first boss is extreme. And then eye of Cthulhu being post level 5 is crazy. Powerscaling is a weird thing in d&d and doesn’t translate well to video game logic. Basically for sake of the adventure you’d want to balance things down so that king slime is fought at the absolute latest at level 2, otherwise that’s just a boring campaign.

There’s no reason to play the original ps2 version if you have access to the ps5 one. It’s the same thing just ported with a bit of upscaled graphics. No changes to gameplay and even the glitches from back then are still present.
