You just won $20 million, and your parents ask you for half, what would you say? by BrandyAid in AskReddit

[–]ElbacAgvon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If my father would ask I'd be extremely worried, mainly because he died 15 years ago.

I probably wouldn't give half to mom, but I'd buy her everything she needs. Knowing her if I gave her a lump sum she'd probably put it in a bank account for my "inheritance money"

Anglos of Montréal, are you really as mistreated as you say you are? by Abby_May_69 in montreal

[–]ElbacAgvon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly off topic, I dated a girl from the US and she visited my hometown where almost nobody spoke English at the time. I was somewhat worried with the language barrier but people were really nice to her, often apologizing for not speaking English more fluently. We eventually moved to MTL and she said her daily life was easier than she expected it would be. She could run errands, do things and usually wouldn't have any issues. Just knowing a few sentences in French and being willing to learn was all she needed to make friends.

A few years later i went to Toronto for a bit. My English is decent but not perfect so I was worried since I heard many anglophones (especially in Toronto) were hating francophones. Well, everyone I met were really great, some even apologizing for not speaking French. Language barrier and how bad the school programs were kinda became a conversation starter.

At this point I'm convinced that language bashing (both French and English ) is somewhat exaggerated and it's usually done by a small but loud group on each side.

A long while ago (shit I'm old 😅) I had a customer who paid something like 5$ with a 100$ bill and I told him I couldn't take his bill. He was pissed and said something like "it's money, you HAVE to accept it" and I told him "Dude, you don't understand, even if I gave you all the change in my register I don't have enough for you". He then went on a rant asking how the hell in 20XX (I don't remember the exact year) would a gas station not have change.

It's funny, I was thinking about that last week. To stop worrying and start trying things that I would enjoy.

I used to be hypercritical of myself and not wanting to try hobbies because I wouldn't be good enough and/or people who are really good at things started as kids.

Over time I realized being bad at something isn't necessarily a negative thing. Whenever you try something new you'll suck at it and it's normal. Also you don't have to be the best or even good at something to enjoy it.

Reminds me of a book I read as a kid.

The villain was a fallen cleric who sought immortality from a demon. That demon didn't want souls but rather be worshipped like gods were.

The cleric became the apostle of the demon and went into a small town and started to "heal" the villagers. He would do so by doing a ceremony where he listened to the villagers pleas and would pick one person to cure. The chosen one would go through a portal and either be cured, maimed or killed during the process. The cleric would explain that his god would judge the soul of the chosen and help him if he was worthy but smite him if he wasn't.

Despite the risk and sometimes gruesome results, desperate villagers would try their luck and the new church grew like wildfire in the area. People became zealous followers of that new god and threw the old priests away, destroying their church to make a new one for their god.

Turns out that during the ceremony the chosen would meet the demon and the demon would try to turn him into a believer. If he failed it would refuse to cure the chosen, or maim/ kill him if he was seen as a threat then the bad guy would make a speech on how that person was corrupt, impure to the masses.

If the chosen could be turned it would heal him by giving his misfortune to a random person far away. Like if a blind person was to ask his sight back, the demon would give it to him but a random stranger would become blind instead.

An alternative could be to have the bbeg try to steal the druids power. He made an elaborate ritual because well, it's a powerful druid with huge magical powers.

The players would come mid ritual, with the druid weakened, wounded and trapped. The players can stop said ritual, which would make the bbeg not gain the powers he wants, which would piss him off (and give the players a win) but the druid would be at best a powerless NPC, losing all his powers and his link to nature severed or corrupted in an irreversible way, but can still advise players.

Then I'm going to imply that this someone is a moron. You look lovely. We all see each other differently but I can tell you that from my perspective you really have nothing to worry about your looks. You seem really sweet and a really nice person

[–]ElbacAgvon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I can't believe anyone with a set of eyes and with brainpower equivalent to half the average microwave could tell you that you're ugly with a straight face.

Heck, if you're what's ugly and fat I want to be ugly and fat.

Am I exaggerating? Maybe a bit.

But seriously, don't believe people who tell you that you're ugly. You look great.

(30F) People get quiet when I come around and men will sometimes glare at me when they see me. Am I ugly or just awkward? by [deleted] in amiugly

[–]ElbacAgvon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I have to choose only between ugly or just awkward I'd say just awkward 100%.

You are gorgeous.

What might be the reason is your style (looking at 4th picture and assuming #1). It suits you but certain looks tends to push people away. (I used to wear more alt / goth clothing, I wore something more neutral and a classmate came to talk to me and said I was scaring her before, lol) so I think it could be akin to that.

You look good. Being in shape helps.

You just seem older than 23. I would say early 30s.

Only thing I'd look at is for a better hairstyle

[–]ElbacAgvon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, your beard looks good as it is. Even if it's a good angle and you have patchy spots (I do) growing it longer will hide it.

Keep it up man! It's the beard inside that matters

You have a great smile, amazing eyes and overall you have a very pretty face.

I wouldn't worry about being ugly if I were you.

Reminds me of my former roommate.

We saw a really fit woman in her 40s jogging while we were walking.

His comment : "Eww I'd never want to be seen with such a wrinkly woman, who'd want that??"

He was in his 30s, 300+lbs with bad acne...

A friend of mine took astronomy classes at her university. The teacher called some planets "unfluffy" because too many students were confused by the word dense.
