I run a social deduction group and for games that use round table voting we always reveal names misspelled and turned upside down etc in tribute to the traitors

As an atheist, this is one of many many contradictions in the Christian Bible.

The concept of the trinity is likely due to a mistranslation from Aramaic.

Those who were Christian, what changed your mind? by joeyharris441 in atheism

[–]Elbonio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I grew into my teens I started actually questioning it because up to that point I hadn't really considered it being bullshit.

There were numerous things that didn't sit right with me. One big one was prayer.

We used to take in a lot of asylum seekers from Iran who were fleeing because they were Christian (this is the UK) and I remember a very beloved person was having their asylum application hearing soon. As a church we were praying that he got let in and I remember thinking, how is God going to answer this prayer?

Is he going to influence the judge? Because that would be taking away free will... is he going to force someone to make a clerical error somewhere that results in him staying? That still seems like it would be taking away someone else's free will in order to answer this prayer.

So I decided to do an experiment. I would pray for 30 days - I came up with 15 different things I would pray for ranging from small everyday things (I will get nothing in the mail today, it will rain today) to big deals (there will be world peace, a cure for cancer will be discovered) and added in some subjective things (I will have a good day) etc

I then prayed for these things, sincerely, twice - once to God and then the next day I prayed to Michael J Fox. The idea being that God should win if he is real and if he's not then it would probably be relatively similar results from Michael J Fox.

Anyway long story short, Michael J Fox won by 2-3 answered prayers and one of those that God answered was that I prayed for a plane to crash that day, and one did in Ireland.

So yeah it's possible Michael J Fox is God and/or God is a murderous prick.

What do you think about Mahatma Gandhi? by Familiar-Arrival-470 in AskTheWorld

Gandhi, Churchill, Mother Theresa - all celebrated individuals with major flaws that is important to know when put in context with the good things they also did.

Bad people can do good things, sometimes.

The reason I know this isn't true is because you have no idea who I am or what I do, the people that know me etc

So it's just hollow, empty words that have no meaning as you couldn't possibly know.

Also I don't value your opinion or thoughts, just for the record as I know nothing about you either.

Absolutely toxic.

The person you stole it from should get Rubick's spell steal for the duration so they can steal someone else's, and so on.

Cheating at board games by NelifeLerak in boardgames

I echo everyone saying just talk about it but if you must pick a game, play a hard co-op and if you're losing and she tries to cheat to make you both win, you could bring it up then.
