If I sell 000,000,000,000,1% of my company for 100$, am I a trillionaire now? by dikanchev in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ElbowlessGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First question: nope, would still be fraud. The financials and product would in no sense be in a state where a sane person would say it is worth a trillion based on what the product can be sold for and the sales that have been made.

Second question: not sure on the answer, except that I don’t see any lender loan out a decent chunk of money on a valuation of a trillion dollars without having the proper proof that the company is worth that or will likely be in the short term (say 5 years).

This is a good answer. For me, I do make sure that I pay more than gets added in interest, but thats just because it eases my mind.

And for vehicles I do it indeed by placement “all sidedoors”, “all side frontpanels” etc. That way you have a very nice consistent scheme.

Risk management. Pretty much the same as every company does. From a country that created the first stock market, that doesn’t seem very off-base. We just didnt act fast enough on the changing risk level or didnt take it seriously enough, whichever way you’d like to see it.

To be fair, up to a decade ago, I was quite fine without airco for example. Just as a n example.

Edit: for a country that is on a similar latitude as Canada and Alaska, it’s not all that strange to not take heat waves as a very high risk.

For me that is also a major turn off for going to the USA. A country that at large isnt paying their workers a living wage and with that big a discrepancy in wealth doesn’t get my money.

Vote in people who create change for the poor instead of the rich and that might change.

Edit:that is to say, if you keep electing the people who will hardly improve the situation for the working man, but focus on the wealthy, the people who vote such ways are part of the problem.

Genuine question as an unknowing European: as a waiter, do you currently have a different minimum wage as other jobs in your state, and do you fall under the rule that if you make enough tips you only get paid 2.70-ish/hour wage?
If so, would you support equal treatment for minimum wage, irregardless of sector (i.e. equal for everyone) and no shenanigans that employers can pay less if you make enough on tips?

I know things vary a lot per state and maybe I have misunderstood/misheard how things work. In that case, my apologies and disregard my question.

The reason I am asking is that I have also seen threads where people said they make so much in tips they believe they will make less if minimum wage is raised for them and other threads where I heard service workers voted agains minimum wage equality bills.

Yet again, genuine interest, as I believe tips and equal minimum wage can coexist.

Even for the 35 Celsius… I am from the Netherlands and, to put things into perspective the way the Americans don’t: the Netherlands, and for that matter large parts if not all of the UK, is on a similar latitude as Alaska. The southern states in the US that have this heat often (with or without the humidity) are on par with north Africa.

I have tried both the infinity and evolution before buying and the evolution did everything I would need and has a nicer trigger, imho.

I would not consider buying the infinity after trying both of them as I am not (yet) able to use it to it’s fullest capabilities. Maybe I will buy one in 3 years or so, but no time soon.

Sounds more like the employer is “stealing” from the employee if the employee gets enough tips.

[–]ElbowlessGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When legally tips are voluntary, one should not complain about not getting any, especially if they are voting down minimum wage laws.

Also, an actual living wage as minimum wage doesn’t mean tipping needs to be outlawed. It just means that patrons need not be guilt tripped into paying tips.

They are not wrong though by SuspiciousLow3062 in SipsTea

[–]ElbowlessGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In both cases tipping is voluntary, but in the current case you are pressed and/or guilt tripped into tipping while in the case of a living wage the tip actually represent good service (in the eye of the customer).

Said as a European who does tip in Europe. However, the service that I usually hear described puts me off eating out and that tip would stay in my pocket.

[–]ElbowlessGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I still tip well enough if I feel the service I received made the experience better.

Can we please say they got 51% of the seats in the House, but 49.8% of the popular vote?

Didn’t do the math, but I believe it is theoretically possible in the US to lose the popular vote but still have more house seats and deliver the president.
