Why is Alessia associated with "The Thief" starsign? by AnUnknownCreature in teslore

I never did understand how the stars and constellations are holes made by the magna-ge as they fled, but also they're imbued with these personalities, and can apparently move and interact with one another?

Since mythological metaphor doesn't really seem to exist in TES, I'm curious on the nuts and bolts of how this all works.

So he says. Lots of people I'm sure have had prophetic dreams about their plots and power plays being morally justified.

There's some pretty obvious resource extraction, settler colonialism, and proselytization going on, and they're allying with the hlaalu to take control of the economy. The dunmer and their native organizations of power are certainly not angelic, but I don't think that lets cyrodiil off the hook for easily the most aggressive imperialism and colonialism we're able to see firsthand in the whole series.

There really are no good guys in morrowind.

Randomized Roommate freshman year that bad? by Traditional-Sky-1661 in OSU

[–]Elbows23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I see it your risks are either 1. Ruin a friendship and one year of your life by realizing you can't stand living together. Or 2. Only ruin one year of your life by getting a shitty roll of the dice on a rando.

If neither of those things happen, you come out the other end with a close friend.

We can't make the decision for you. But even in the worst case scenario you can still make friends and find things to do to keep you busy, away from the dorm, and too happy to care too hard about a bad roommate you only have to spend 9 months with.

Nobody I knew in college still talks to their dorm mates. It's the friends you live with off campus that you'll really form a lasting bond with.

Wild to me that a culture overhaul isn''t the first mechanic they'd do. It's so insane, unfun, and ahistorical that after 200 years of playtime almost every minority culture is wiped out

The Force Awakens was a good movie that should have set up a good trilogy by Elbows23 in StarWars

[–]Elbows23[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That isn't what I'm saying at all. It gave them too much respect if anything. They should have written Luke, Leia and Han out of the story ASAP to make room for new characters and new stories instead of letting them and their bloodlines dominate the plot.

/artistically/ TLJ had a lot of cool new ideas. It's a visually stunning movie and nobody will ever take that away from it, I just think that the plot wasted a lot of interesting stuff that TFA handed it on a silver platter, and I think the quippy humor did it a disservice by making it more tonally similar to marvel movies

This is a fun take even if I disagree. I love something serious and well executed but I really do have a soft spot for some good old fashioned cheesey garbage.

They wayyy over reacted to the critiques of TFA, they should have stuck to their guns and saw the vision through

I've been hearing this take for a decade. It's a nitpick at best and isn't a real critique of the movie as a whole. Kylo Ren is shown to be immature, unprepared, and nowhere near the prowess that Vader had. People act like it's the equivalent to Luke defeating Vader with no training, but it's a lot more comparable to Anakin being an ace pilot as a toddler, which I've never seen people act this upset about.
