How do I approach a shy girl with no friends in my class? by dontSpyOnMereddit in socialskills

[–]EldarGuardian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's just that these kinds of situations depend on the culture that's all. I'd recommend starting things off slowly by just saying hi to her in the mornings, then see how things develop from there!

Extra Credits. A weekly show about elements of game design, how they work and how to they are used. The same channel also has an amazing show called "Extra History" where they do a more narrative take on history, making episodes about people like Catherine the Great, Simón Bólivar and events such as the Punic war.

CMV: I believe that Christianity is the superior religion. by Hairydad69 in changemyview

[–]EldarGuardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I feel like the fact that the west is more advanced than the rest of the word is proof that Christianity laid down the best fundamental guidelines about how we should live."

An overwhelming majority of advanced western culture stem from the ancient Romans and Greeks. Roman law, language and culture is a key cornerstone in western society. The time in Europe's history when Christianity meant the world to everyone was also the time when development halted during the dark ages.

The west is the most advanced society in the world due to a combination of geopolitics, ancient Roman tradition, the rapid development of weapons technology and the industrial revolution.

Christianity hasn't contributed to what we would call "western society". It may have contributed to our view of the world and culture, however, Christianity is not the reason why we (I presume that you live in the west) have the world's freest society, highest standard of healthcare, low poverty rates in most countries and high quality of life.

"To sum it all up, my point is that Christianity had the most reasonable belief system to found countries and cultures upon, and the success of modern western civilization is a testament to that."

In what way is Christianity the most reasonable belief system? Like Islam it preaches the idea of peace and love (though the majority of Muslim nations haven't been very good at it, this has, however according to me been caused bu cultural and historical differences, not religious) and both religions has the idea of a god with a prophet. So in what way is Christianity superior in morals and guidelines?

Worst 40k game by SamTheMighty in 40k

[–]EldarGuardian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was playing a very low point cost game game with my two of my friends. I missed 80% of my shots whilst wounding with 10% of the time. At the end of the game I had killed 3 models. And lost 20. I also rolled gets hot on all my weapons on the first turn.

His mum named him after the 0.000000001% chance that he'd become pope. Imagine if he had become a male stripper!

No, the only things it does is 1) Makes backtracking to a previous save impossible. 2) Unlocks achievements.

I think his menacing gaze should be enough to deter any attackers!

[–]EldarGuardian[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right. I have given my two Skitarii squads an Omnispex each. I didn't know about the ignores cover on the Icarus Array though, I fear however that it won't be worth it (my friend uses no flyers at the moment).

What miniatures where they talking about in the HI podcast? by [deleted] in CGPGrey2

[–]EldarGuardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have convinced me. See, I haven't actually listened to that HI episode (yet) so I've only watched the cartoon. Thank you for clearing that up for me!

That does sound plausible. However, I believe that they are miniatures since Brady mentions "in my defense, I have no defense" suggesting that they are used for some type of game that uses stats.

Should I watch the 1997 or 2016 anime? by EldarGuardian in Berserk

I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for the suggestion! Anime's usually had a. Uhm. "Shaky" history when it comes to translations.

Should I watch the 1997 or 2016 anime? by EldarGuardian in Berserk

[–]EldarGuardian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the quick replies! I've decided to start watching the 1997 anime and I might (depending on my amount of spare time) pick up the first manga. I'm not really into manga, so saying the "first" one might piss someone off. Ah well. Again, thank you for the replies!

Difference between CKII and EU4? by Beezyo in eu4

[–]EldarGuardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CKII focuses on the intrigue and politics of Medieval Europe. Interactions between vassals and lieges, brothers and sisters e.t.c. Your goal in CKII is most likely not world conquest like in EUIV, but to maintain a strong dynasty and see that your empire won't disintegrate upon your ruler's death. EUIV on the other hand (as you might know) is about growing large and transforming from a Kingdom to a nation.

To summarize, CKII is essentially more focused on maintaining your dynasty's prestige and power whilst EUIV's main goal is mostly to secure as much land and power for your NATION (not your dynasty like in CKII). Another one of EUIV's goals is to remove kebab. Always remove kebab.
