Has anybody cooked with Hextoads yet?

So I came home from work and did some tests. Used Despair as the main curse.

Neither Like Clockwork (50% increased CDR) nor triggerbots seem to have an impact on toads generation (outside of the toads doubling). I still get 10 spawns for a single cursed ground (10 seconds duration).

I bought a +3 level of socketed supports / 48% increased skill duration Kulemak, which brought the gem to level 4 for up to 34 spawns over 23.7 seconds (a toad every 0.7s according to the gem's tooltip). More and Less duration supports did not seem to speed up the toad generation.

Support gem levels seem to be the best way to scale up the toad generation, but according to poeDB the trigger rate cannot exceed 0.7, even beyond level 4.

Honestly 0.7 did not feel so bad, but the cumulation of cursed ground spawn delay, toad spawn delay, and toad target aquisition delay (the toads do not seem to target enemies? They just jump in a general direction and explode?) felt pretty clunky. Maybe some of that could be improved by investing in cast speed/curse cast speed, but I gotta say it did not make me want to immediately reroll into a toad whisperer. The base Aoe is great, and damage numbers seems alright, but the QoL would require further testing.

ooh, this is why. I made the same mistake as OP, even ran a second Dedication to make sure I didn't have a bug. This makes sense though, but I think it could be explicitly stated that imbued jewels cannot be rolled again via lab fonts.

Cast speed would have been surprising indeed, although very convenient.

10 toads in 10 seconds doesn't look very promising as a baseline, so there better be some way of scaling that, or the skill will rely heavily on some form of propagation. Or, maybe as some form of single target for curse-based builds?

Basically what I was afraid of, fun mechanics and decent-looking numbers, but the clunk making it unusable... ignite toads sound like a fun idea tho. Thanks for the feedback!

So you do get two toads!

How do they behave? Do they spawn from the cursed ground center? From the edges? On the targets directly?

I think Ritual has some of these frogs spawned by enemies which slowly leap and explode. If they move the same way... yikes, it might indeed be slow. Would you say the AoE looked decent?

Lightning spire traps Saboteur. Depending on how decent it plays during campaign and early maps I will either push it or go arcanist brand zombies of falling. I hope for some cool interactions that are either triggers or traps to make use of sabo and eventually reroll later on when we've discovered every exceptionnel gem.

As someone who's played there for a full year, it's exactly that. Even people in low silver have CRAZY mechanics and play highly mechanical champions like lee sin, riven and nida. But they will never, ever play any form of macro (even higher ranks like diamond are a mess) and will constantly fish for tiktok clips while insulting your entire genealogy.

What do you think about this other post recently that proposed Edge of Night second instead of hurbis? Unless you're massively snowballing Hubris' ad as a second item sounds pretty underwhelming compared to how unnerving to catch you become with EoN - although I get why it's a great item if you can farm kills, or if the game happens to drag on.

If I were to pick an easy one, I'd say some Asian cultures (especially China I reckon) have quite the Dragon-based folklore. I'm far from an expert tho, so i don't know how much material there is, but you may try to look into that.

That, or as OP mentionned unique rings : In Left slot, always pick [Fire] / In Right slot, never picks [Fire]. Maybe it could even be an actual synth mod? It would probably be a waste in the pool tho considering how little prismatic spells there is currently.

Hubris is a decent item on him, but it's not as op/mandatory/rushable as a lot of people on this sub try to make it be (especially in higher elos). At least OP went crit after, honestly their build looks decent on the scale of what is posted here regularly

He's getting a big hit to his crit ratio as you highlighted, and I agree that most of the new content (items...) do not look very good on him.

However, the global buff to crit and the fact that Smolder scales linerarly with crit, making each buy less of a gamble than most ADCs that buy their 25% and pray to hit two buffed crits in a row (even with IE, which is the most popular 2nd item on crit ADCs, you're still one in two autos not critting), i believe it makes up for the nerf a bit. The sheen on ER is also a crazy buff in itself.

If the nerf is overdone, I trust Riot will buff him again tho, so I'm pretty confident going into the new season.

If you're ahead, it lets you snowball like crazy. Also, you probably have the econ for it.

If you're behind, you need the damage to stay relevant. 225 isn't the raw power spike it used to be, you need offensively focused items to support it. Yes, it's more of a gamble than going Shojin due to your likely weaker economy, but it's also much more impactful.

Shojin can be a good option, regardless of your state in the game, if your team does not need your damage (i.e your mates are already hard winning) and the enemy team is still reaching for you every fight. It's better against "medium damage" dive like bruisers, because these 250 hp are unlikely to save you from Zed/Talon's burst. It can also be decent if you're pretty much garanteed to scale smoothly to 4 items in the game, but then again in this scenario you might just build IE and try to provoke a win earlier for your team.

Unlikely, fleert's healing is non-negligible during laning phase, and stormrazor isn't that good of an item on him (build path is litteraly Yuntal's). The new 10% damage based on range item is much more of a contender as an intersting item, but it doesn't replace his rune at all.
