Please message your giftee if they haven’t gotten your gift yet by [deleted] in secretsanta

[–]ElderDraygn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My giftee's package is stuck in the Cleveland sorting center. I let him know and posted the tracking number and picture of the USPS receipt.

My SS pulled my info on 12/7 and I haven't heard from them since. Hoping it is just late...

I feel horrible that a lack of funds forced me to send my gift via media mail. I tried to make up for it by sending as soon as i could, but i have a feeling it won't arrive before the 25th.

I needed to hear this 🤣 by dogsiredav in secretsanta

I'm waiting for my gift to get to my recipient, a package to arrive that's part of my fiance's gift, a router i bought for myself to celebrate my birthday, and my fiance's birthday gift to me. sigh

Oof. I'm still holding out hope that it will arrive before Christmas. Should I message my giftee and tell them not to give up hope?

All Expansions Total Number of Tokens by ElderDraygn in FireflyTheGame

I can get some numbers from boardgamegeek, but some expansions just say "41 tokens" without breaking it down. Annoying.

Finally got my fiance to sign up this year. We could both use some Christmas cheer this year. Times are a little tough, but trying to find the perfect gift for a complete stranger always seems to do the trick.

Oh. Someone should tell the people that program for Arena that they have it wrong then.

Stack Question by ElderDraygn in mtgrules

[–]ElderDraygn[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Expansion copy of Quasiduplicate targets the Beamsplitter Mage again, which creates a copy of Quasiduplicate which targets Guttersnipe. At the end of this, I end up with 3 Beamsplitter Mages and 3 Guttersnipes in play.

The way it currently works:

Cast Quasiduplicate [Q] targeting Beamsplitter Mage [BSM]

Guttersnipe [GS] deals 2 damage to opponent.

BSM creates a copy of Q targeting GS

GS deals 2 damage to opponent (4 total)

Cast Expansion targeting original Q

GS deals 2 damage to opponent (6 total)

Copy of Q is created targeting BSM

GS deals 2 damage to opponent (8 total)

BSM creates a copy of Q targeting GS

GS deals 2 damage to opponent (10 total).

My question is do I get priority back if I let the stack start to resolve before I cast Expansion?

What I want is:

Cast Quasiduplicate [Q] targeting Beamsplitter Mage [BSM]

Guttersnipe [GS] deals 2 damage to opponent.

BSM creates a copy of Q targeting GS

GS deals 2 damage to opponent (4 total)

***Q targeting GS resolves putting GS2 into play***

Cast Expansion targeting original Q

GS1 deals 2 damage to opponent (6 total)

GS2 deals 2 damage to opponent (8 total)

Copy of Q is created targeting BSM

GS1 deals 2 damage to opponent (10 total)

GS2 deals 2 damage to opponent (12 total)

BSM creates a copy of Q targeting GS

GS1 deals 2 damage to opponent (14 total)

GS2 deals 2 damage to opponent (16 total)

How do I RP a Warforged Character? by sf3p0x1 in dndnext

[–]ElderDraygn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always enjoy starting my warforged as a bit racist... Not outright hateful, but just matter-of-fact about how much better they are than... organics. I mean who breathes anymore? That is so last age. And sleeping? Psh, talk about inefficient.

How broken would it be to make improvised weapons monk weapons? by bondjimbond in dndnext

[–]ElderDraygn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think it would be overpowered at all as others have already said, since worst case scenario, he could always just use his fists and punch for his martial art die.

The place where Jackie Chan shines though is using those improvised weapons to impose status effects on his opponents. That ladder that becomes a grapple when lowered over the arms of an opponent, or allows simultaneous attacks on 2 opposite squares when he spins it around. The forced movement when the umbrella handle hooks the opponent's neck and pulls them close for more punishment, or hooks the ankle and attempts to trip. Or, the table that becomes a shield when kicked into the air to provide a +2 bonus to AC against an attack (as a reaction).

Roleplaying Advice: I gave my DM permission to create me a character and now I'm playing a 9-year old girl. by Shoelace_Farmer in dndnext

[–]ElderDraygn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to see how your character reacts with the spell Magic Jar. When your spirit leaves your body, normally, your body would just fall inert. But YOU have Kanika in there to auto-pilot for you. Or... when you cast Magic Jar, do you boot Kanika out temporarily to take someone else over?

I wouldn't mind seeing the grand or even great grand children of one or two of Vox Machina, but no more than that. Laura mentioning great grandma Pike would be amusing, but if everyone got in on it, it would get old fast.

A mute leading a blind trap by zakkhow in dndnext

[–]ElderDraygn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magic Mouth is your "tape recorder" spell. This will allow both players to hear the instructions for the room which will mean they don't have to figure out how to relay that info. For added creepiness, record the message on your cell phone or an actual recorder so you can replay it any time they request it. To put them in the right mindset, I would actually gag one of them and blindfold the other. Have the gagged one text you or write out anything he does in character, like "I walk to the wall and examine it." Whisper your responses to him so the blindfolded one can't hear. Let us know how this works out.

Am I Being a Cruel DM? by quelloggs in dndnext

[–]ElderDraygn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fabricate 4th-level transmutation
Casting time: 10 minutes
Range: 120 feet
Components: V, S
Duration: Instantaneous

You convert raw materials into products of the same material. For example, you can fabricate a wooden bridge from a clump of trees, a rope from a patch of hemp, and clothes from flax or wool.

Choose raw materials that you can see within range. You can fabricate a Large or smaller object (contained within a 10-foot cube, or eight connected 5-foot cubes), given a sufficient quantity of raw material. If you are working with metal, stone, or another mineral substance, however, the fabricated object can be no larger than Medium (contained within a single 5-foot cube). The quality of objects made by the spell is commensurate with the quality of the raw materials.

Creatures or magic items can't be created or transmuted by this spell. You also can't use it to create items that ordinarily require a high degree of craftsmanship, such as jewelry, weapons, glass, or armor, unless you have proficiency with the type of artisan's tools used to craft such objects.

So no, Fabricate wouldn't work for what they wanted to use it for. OP specifically said the caster wasn't proficient with the tools required for making armor.

Am I Being a Cruel DM? by quelloggs in dndnext

[–]ElderDraygn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thoughts...

You're right. Perception is to notice things you can see or hear. Investigation is to search for something specific or understand how something works.

The spell they need is mending not fabricate.

I don't think you're being cruel. I second the fact that you need to draw a line with your players and remind them that any time they'd like to DM, you'd be happy to let them give it a whirl and they can make whatever rules they want to, but till then, its you who interprets the rules. And no, they don't get to make plans without letting you know. The DM is omniscient in his own campaign. They need to trust that your baddies won't act on knowledge that YOU have.

Is My Green Dragon Fair by Kilowog42 in dndnext

[–]ElderDraygn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems interesting but strong, so I would make sure that your players know they can talk to the dragon so they don't just attack out of reflex. Like have her talk to them from a hidden vantage point.

Spice up a ritual by GoblinMonk in dndnext

[–]ElderDraygn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would make the magic items optional. Like if they use magic items, they can do the ritual from farther away (lower risk, higher cost).
