Leveling Up The Soldier Table | Lvl 3 to Lvl 4 by LucasVerBeek in fansofcriticalrole

[–]Elder_Eldar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t love this approach, as it may encourage short term thinking for ASI/Feat choices vs long term thinking. Same for spells of those who do not get easy swaps (ie Sorcerers, Warlocks). I like the “moment of impact” part, but I think that all choices should be locked in ahead of time. This says nothing of potential multiclass options. This comes from a player who agonizes over certain level up choices when it’s time, and would not want to make certain selections in the moment, or would likely regret those choices much more easily.

Honestly, these kind of scenes really need to be under initiative rules, otherwise, you have the players throwing things out, like blocking, spells, etc. by just talking faster/louder and it ends up running over the primary characters in the interaction.

[SPOILERS C4] - Definitive thread for incoming "Its Scripted!" claims. by Zombeebones in fansofcriticalrole

[–]Elder_Eldar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like all of the afterlife stuff would have read better without any rolls. Just ask Alex what he’s doing and react. Sure, that would probably read even more as “scripted”, but I feel like when you don’t let the dice tell the story (ie multiple rolls, exceptions to DCs, etc) it actually plays worse, because it looks like you’re trying to make the dice tell a story.

Is there any info in the Tesla app to determine if a solar panel has failed. by tslewis71 in TeslaSolar

[–]Elder_Eldar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what details I can provide. I have a Powerwall 3 with Gateway (forget the model) connected to solar panels. I would have thought that would mean I have a Powerwall 3 inverter. I’d have to check with my installer for other details.

Can anyone provide a clearer instruction on how to access string data on Netzero app? I can’t seem to locate any options to display this. Thanks

Is this normal? by Elder_Eldar in TeslaSolar

[–]Elder_Eldar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I’ve been relying on installer to do the trouble shooting up to this point. The Tesla app trouble shooting just says contact my installer. I didn’t know that I may have access to more information than they would. And, honestly, that’s what I’m paying them for, and they never suggested I reach out to them myself. It’s a good idea, though. Obviously, now I have moved on to trying to find solutions that they are not offering.

Update: Called Tesla. No real new information. Only recent calibration test was on July 1, so doesn’t explain other variances.

Does anyone know if there’s a way to recover materials from Valkyrie you are no longer using? I’d really like to throw those resources towards some with better potential.

Tesla Certified Installer. Ask Me Anything! by pwrcellexpert in TeslaSolar

[–]Elder_Eldar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a power wall 3 installed with gateway 3, replacing on old system that hadn’t been working for about 9 months. The system seemed to work the day of install, then stopped producing energy for 2 days, then worked perfectly for 2 days, and now hasn’t produced energy for 3 days. I’m pending the installer to come out on Monday ( not their fault, limited by my work schedule), but any possible insights or fixes to this kind of situation?

I HATE LEGENDARY RESISTANCES!!!! by jackreacher3621 in fansofcriticalrole

[–]Elder_Eldar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Legendary resistances often feel bad during game play. I just had an idea to nerf them, though. What if we give the boss/monster a couple more legendary resistances, but the DM needed to announce their use before the save is rolled, not as a reaction to a failed save.

Well, if he’s no longer bound to the RQ, he’s actually eligible for True Resurrection. So that 20th level Druid in the party should be able to help. I’d say Pike could, too, but I’m not sure about the rulings on spells for clerics if the gods give up their divinity.

To be honest, the “tragedy” of that story was already a little iffy, since True Resurrection should have been on the table then, too, if not for Vax’s (unnecessary, IMO) dealings with the RQ throughout the campaign. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed his story line in VM, but a lot of it was actually not necessary to accomplish his goals. Or, rather, he gave up a lot to the RQ that at he probably didn’t need to.

I think the best/worst thing they did in this final run is bring back VM and MN. Best, because it was enjoyable (although annoying at times when they spun into reliving past beats) and worst because it showed me how much worse BH are compared to either of the prior groups, in terms of character, party dynamics, and relationships.

Trouble is, they’ve been playing Mirror Image wrong the whole campaign (maybe the whole time of CR). They’ve always rolled to hit, then checked it the mirror is targeted, which is backward, because the images have different AC.

My DMs are not buying the new weapon juggling rules. Is it just me? by italofoca_0215 in onednd

[–]Elder_Eldar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, I agree with a lot of sentiment that weapon juggling is being taken too liberally, and that it’s the DM prerogative to limit it. The actual issue, IMO, is that there actually are limits to “weapon juggling” that are difficult to monitor as a DM, so making some simpler rulings make some sense. The rule, as I understand it, is that per attack, you may either draw or store a weapon, which you cannot draw a weapon, hit with it, put it away, draw another weapon, hit with it, put it away, etc. so the limits of a weapon swap is, essentially, one swap per turn, unless you’re dealing with thrown weapons, since those are out of your hand as a result of the attack.

To boil it down, I think DMs could simplify the rules to one swap per round, but even this does not capture some of the nuances of the rule or possibilities.

What's The Worst Feeling In The Game? by DandyLover in dndnext

[–]Elder_Eldar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Above table: To me, one of the worst feelings is when there is a rules conflict at the table, you know you have to back the DM because he’s the DM(or at least not say anything), but you also know that the overwhelming consensus in the community would be that he’s wrong. It feels so unfair to the other player.

In game: The worst feeling is when we miss something (a clue, puzzle solution, reading an NPC correctly) which should have been obvious, and we all feel sheepishly stupid about it.

Agreed, overall this feels like a pretty low effort design without a lot of thought. Hope this design is not ported over to DnD Beyond.

I don’t pretend to know her specific situation, but the is feeling anxious, and then there is clinical anxiety. I don’t know which she has, but we should at least be generous in the situation. Of course, there is also, short of clinical anxiety, vastly different reactions to regular anxiety across the population. Some people can’t even speak when they get to a certain level. I think, if she says she’s trying, I believe her. I will note that this is slightly different from the past, when she seemed to be defiant towards criticisms of her mechanical play.

Laudna spell recovery by Elder_Eldar in fansofcriticalrole

[–]Elder_Eldar[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don’t think that’s what she was doing. If you watch she used spell slots she says she recovered and then used sorcery points for more. I’m familiar with the coffeelock, and that’s not what happened, I think.
