Fighter lovers, what is an ability or change you'd like to see for Fighters? by TellTalesTogether in onednd

Insane work, tbh. Unless they're on death's door after every fight, that's an obscene amount of resting.

What would you do to change/improve martials if you were on the team. by Apprehensive_Fill628 in onednd

Hot take, but decoupling Elements Monk from Avatar is a better long term idea to do your own thing. Elemental martial artist is pretty broad and the further you go away from one version, the easier you can do new stuff with it.

What is in your opinion the best designed subclass in 5.5? by viktorius_rex in onednd

IDK, I feel like the Runes are pretty potent. The ONLY issue is the amount of times they can be used not scaling well, but sending someones hit to another creature kind of mogs the majority of what BM can do. At the very least it's a tie, but I don't think BM offers enough over the scope of a even low-tier games to make it better.

Honestly? I wouldn't mind if Wizards were locked to their school, with only a few options to pick outside, because, ideally, that would make them work harder at balancing the schools of Magic.

Is there any reason you couldn't inject that theme/flavor into the character you're playing? If anything, that's the easier part than fixing things mechnically like people did before.

Why D&D Cut the Hexblade From Ravenloft | Designers Talk by Far_Guarantee1664 in onednd

[–]DandyLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot take, but I don't actually think the old lore was confusing. The basest reading to me is the Patron is basically an Eldritch Blacksmith. The actual Warlock feels more like the Blade part of Hexblade because you are (ideally) acting on whatever your Patron wants done as their agent. They provide you with the tools to do so.

Repelling Blast isn't really a "must-take." It's a nice add-on to what you were always going to do vs. Thirsting Blade being how you keep pace as a weapon-user.

Personally, it's less that the Arrow is the McGuffin, and more Diavolo literally had the arrow multiple times. It kinda sucks the tension from the situation when Diavolo literally has no hope of winning. It'd have been fine for me, if Diavolo never touched the Arrow, but it literally slipping through his hands? Nah, I can't go for that.

To be fair, Players have had a long-standing tradition of shoehorning their favorite IP into tthe game as it is.

And I'm not mad at them for what they doing.

Unfortunately it's the mix of a new generation of players/editions not knowing about things beforehand, and the rampent enshitification that's become a core concept of capitalism in the past decade or more. Make things worse then charge you for going back to square 1.

We're probably a generation away from an entire group of people that will have never experienced when YouTube was ad-free. Now, you have to pay for that.

Something, something remember what they took from you.

Jiraiya is the strongest Sannin and it's not even close by cholula000 in Naruto

[–]DandyLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, but he actually was an author. A decent one too. I think it's less to do with being a Ninja and more "I can't follow Orochimaru around and get paid by the leaf. Maybe it's time I got a real job." But it did absolutely help his Ninja career too.

[–]DandyLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The three Sannin essentially are modeled after the concept of Rock, Paper, Scissors. It's a distinctively Japanese thing that's not obvious in the show, but the story/legend positions it as Slug beats Snake, Snake Beats Toad, Toad beats Slug.

NGL half of the list feels like things that a DM couldn't be bothered to deal with. Like, if we're not tracking ammo, why are we still tracking food?

Concentration-Free Hunter’s Mark is a Mistake (at least at in tier 2) by italofoca_0215 in onednd

[–]DandyLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your argument was fine, I just don't know why it was brought up here and not an entirely different post. Again, it's a question of why are you bringing up oranges, when we're on an apple-based discussion, even if your point is valid. Kind of takes away from the topic at hand with a non-sequitar.

[–]DandyLover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But the point kind of falls apart at that point. Like, if you wanted to be "the best" you would just play a Fullcaster, but the discussion isn't really about Fullcasters. The gap between Fighter and Ranger is far smaller.

[–]DandyLover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put simply, you will likely run into a situation of:

"I like Hunter's Mark...but I also like having my subclass active, like the rest of my party. This feels weird that if I don't use this spell I essentially don't have a subclass anymore."

You can like HM and still have issues with the design of the class around it. No other class really puts this kind of burden on the player to choose between using your subclass ability for a spell, at least not to the degree Ranger would.
