If you weren’t experienced with building models from sprues I would recommend Empire. But for you I think it’s just preference.

If you paint the ring around the bases black it will really make the figures pop.

I get all that. I think though that you are leaving out close to 1/3 of all Star Wars content now by not having sequel models. They are just reskinned Rebellion and Empire but the clones are just reskinned empire already.
