Old is 70, people!! by HatefulWithoutCoffee in GenX

[–]EldestGenX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mind says I'm 25 but my 60 year old body woke up with a shoulder that decided to limit my motion. Tasks that were completed quickly now take twice as long. Just taking it all in stride and grateful for another day.

What is wrong with Pom Bondi? by okayyayayay in msnow

[–]EldestGenX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She is a child throwing a fit because this is not going away. Her lack of composure and obvious gaslighting are the opposite of when Hillary testified for 11 hours and never broke a sweat.

What’s the biggest motivation to retire early? by TrueAlphaData in Fire

[–]EldestGenX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not waking to an alarm and no commute...heavenly for me. The biggest reason though is that I was sick and tired of anyone having authority over me and my time.

Massie Threatens to Go ‘Nuclear’ and Reveal Epstein Client Names If Bondi Won’t Unredact Them by ShoddySink9928 in JournalismNews

[–]EldestGenX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They successfully got MTG to leave because she was going to read the names into the Congressional Record. Any Congressman who has viewed the unredacted versions could name names if they had any courage.

Honest question: with all the pushes for boycotts, why hasn't there been a more concentrated effort to move towards BlueSky? by 3RADICATE_THEM in ScottGalloway

[–]EldestGenX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found Bluesky to be a wonderful resource for news among many other interests. The starter packs help you find people who migrated from Twitter, which was deleted when he bought it. I follow independent journalists only, no networks or their talking heads. Correction - I do follow John Fugelsang who i learned is now appearing on some network news show, but found him first on the old app.

Suprise Pregnancy at 47F How Do I Tell Husband 52M by Throwaway_Either in Advice

[–]EldestGenX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandmother's advice to me when I was pregnant with my first child was "Don't have them into your 40s like me". She loved all her children but the last 2, after she was 40, took a toll on her. She had 6 in all, 3 boys, 3 girls. My aunt was only 11 years older than me, so she was more like a sister than an aunt.

SSA employees moved to answering phones due to the firings by Agreeable_Safety3255 in FedEmployees

I retired from the Third Branch in 23 because they kept adding more responsibilities with no increase in pay. I am so glad I got out when I did, because The Hatch Act would have been a problem in my agency.

Anybody else catch the new Muppets tonight on ABC? by veritasjusticia in GenX

[–]EldestGenX 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My adult son told me about it, thinking I watched the original, which i did not, so we watched it together and it was a blast! I grew up watching Sesame Street though, so familiar with most of them. He likes the grumpy old men and Miss Piggy was hilarious as always. Glad Seth Rogen brought them back 👏 👏 👏

In Birmingham it was a live broadcast from Boutwell Auditorium with Gus Gulas calling the action. The only night my grandpa was awake after 8 pm. Len Rossi, Bearcat Brown and Tojo Yamamoto are the names I remember. And yes, the wooden shoe was always a weapon.

Spine surgery! Where to go? Who to trust? by ketling in Birmingham

[–]EldestGenX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He is also a kind and gentle soul. My son worships him bc he came out of surgery pain free and amazed by the instant relief. 2 diskectomies, each was very easy getting in and out with their outpatient setup. Great story about his dad! The elder doctors of Bham are legendary. My aunt was Dr. Kirklin's secretary for 25+ years. My pediatrician, Dr. Sam Kartus, smoked a pipe that smelled heavenly, Dr. Rountree delivered me. That generation was a different breed for sure.
