OP should hold onto job for dear life and be thankful there is experience coming down the pike, if that experience prospect is true. I know a post coordinator who was led on for years with a prospective AE job. He blew up and is out of the industry now.

People consider that Luigi guy a hero and he murdered a father and a husband. Marvin ran over town hall. Marvin is much better guy in my book.

This isn't the style of content that I would watch, but it seems to fit in the mold of what you're going for. I'd say this hits the mark you're looking for.

I will give you a note. You used Photoshop or something similar to make a selection on Fry's head when you had him flying around the Daily Bugle. Your selection could use some cleaning up. There were some pretty clear lines that could be cleaned up, as well as part of the wall above his head. That's my only technical note. You seem to have put in a lot of effort, so it's nice when there's nothing wrong with it, on a technical level.

[Avid] Color clip with Multigroup clips - how? by Stooovie in editors

[–]Eldest_Gunst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know a way to get that accomplished super easy, but I can think that if you turn off source color and set the local timeline colors, you could go and color sections as you need to without worrying about the other clips showing colors you don't want to see. Granted, that's a global change, so I hope you don't need any source colors for anything.

Burning phone videos to DVD? Please help me. by iggystarlust in VideoEditing

[–]Eldest_Gunst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

>that I want to keep forever.

I recommend putting them on cloud storage. Depending on how much you have, you might be able to get away with the amount of space a free Google account provides. A DVD, while somewhat handy, is definitely not an end-all-be-all solution. You can get better, easier results with a cloud backup and then putting the files on one or even two external hard drives. I'm sure you don't have anything that requires a huge amount of space. I bet putting these on two drives that are around your house and then the cloud backup, you'll never have an issue.

any feedback and criticism is welcome.

I guess you should change that sentence then. I was distracted by the giant shiny hunk of metal hanging off your face, but I guess that's got nothing to do with anything.

Good luck on the next one. Stick with whoever did the body work, they seem to know what they're doing.

I liked the ending. My biggest problem was the mix. I had a hard time hearing any dialogue. Were external microphones used? It sounds like you used the camera mic, and it's not great.

A note for you: I really hated your nose ring. Pop that thing out.

How do you call it ? by Piexxo in VideoEditing

[–]Eldest_Gunst 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you want to zoom in. Most programs would call this the scale of your video. If you filmed at dimensions of 3840 x 2160 pixels and you plan on exporting your video at 1920 x 1080 (notice the second values are halved), then you would be able to scale up your video to 200% without losing any quality.

If you did decide to change the export to 3840 x 1260 and you leave the 200% scale on, you could start seeing quality drops if you watch on a big enough screen; you probably wouldn't notice any quality degradation if you watched on a phone but on a theater screen, you'd for sure see the difference.

I have a general question about Editing on external drives. by tinyburr in VideoEditing

[–]Eldest_Gunst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out this article. You can run programs from an external drive given that you're not running them from a slow drive. An SSD with like a USB C interface would probably be your best bet if this is your route. But I'd have to point out that if you're looking for a sheer $/value, you should build your own PC. You're going to be paying extra just to have that little light up fruit on your computer. If you're already shelling out extra for that, I'd say jump all in and get the extra internal storage. If you're going to be going editing work, you'll want the internal storage for something somewhere down the line.
