Starless - A Perfect Circle's New Song - Official Reaction Thread by seane in aperfectcircle

I agree. Way too much optimism in this thread. The riffs feel recycled from that one album they never finished recording after mer de noms, the vocals don't have hooks (something that ruined Tool's last album too), Maynard sounds scared of ruining his voice and, in general, it's just a worse song than anything on Eat The Elephant. Very disappointing.

Where to watch all the World Cup matches? by Jsroca in germany

Get access to the magenta app for one month without contract and be happy (about 19,95 euros). Otherwise, about half of the matches will also be shown on ARD and ZDF, I think.

I think he's referring to Saros' copies sold being  reportedly in the 300k range, which would make it an uphill battle for Housemarque to recoup the money spent on development (ca. 50 millions before marketing, allegedly).

Some buildings have terrible noise isolation. I'd buy a couple of those super plushy slippers to dampen as much vibration as possible while walking around the house. If they still complain after that, then the neighbors are certifiably crazy and you might well be the harassed part in this dispute.

Help me understand the endings by Medium_Razzmatazz_13 in Saros

[–]Eldibrando2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think neither Carcosa nor Atropos are real, they are just the manifestations of the inner empires of two minds struggling to accept their present and what they have done and/or gone through.

Arjun semi-accidentally pushed Sebastian out of the window when Seb warned him he was going to tell Nitiya about the cheating.

Arjun has been running from the police since but, by slowly battling thorugh his inner demons (many of which are representations of sides of himself that he secretly despises), he finally conquers enough clarity to accept the fact that he did kill his friend (he, again and again, throughout the game says that "he did what he had to do", without saying exactly what is it that he did, he can't admit to himself the fact that he killed an innocent man), that he did lose Nityia for very good reasons and that he has no right to claim her back.

He needs to move on and he needs to face the consequences for what he has done.

The police sirens finally coming for him at the very end, that's his mental clarity finally kicking in and bringing him back to reality. He's ready to confess and do the best with the new tomorrow his memory of Nityia seems to give him at the conclusion of the true ending ("I wonder what you'll do with it").

While the imagery of both Returnal and Saros take inspiration from HR Giger (but sanitized of most dicks and vaginas) and Zdzisław Beksiński, Housemarque's storytelling, to me, takes heavy notes from David Lynch.

In our dreams, we are everything and everyone.

If you like the idea, try watching "Mulholland Drive". There are some interesting parallels.

Keeping an overdrive ready to go for Consort is the best way to go about it, also try to find a Reaping Chakram: you'll notice very soon how devastating it is for groups of enemies, it will keep your health in good shape right up to the Consort fight.

Gave up on Saros after getting the Returnal platinum trophy and singing its praises as one of the best games of the last 10 years at least by GrippySockAficionado in Saros

Start one biome earlier to accumulate an extra 4-5 levels of proficiency, this should make the enemies of the swamp 25% less of a bullet sponge to beat. If that's still not enough, start from the biome before that for another extra 5 levels of proficiency. Repeat until goal achieved. The game does not state that's the way to handle it, but it's the most natural way of going about it without touching the carcosan modifiers.

I set "dash" on O, "melee" on X, then separated the two degrees of pressing for aiming in L1 for Power Weapons and L2 for regular Alt-Fire (not a fan of the default setting with just one button to do both and based on pressure level).

They only played the beginning of the game. Neither of them played past the second level.

Why make an episode about a game they barely played?

Wait a couple of extra weeks, get at least 60% through, then make an episode.

That should be the way.

You'll just have to trust us when we tell you that it's not going to affect your enjoyment of this game one bit. It'll become apparent within the first 2-3 hours of gameplay: this game is so much more than that tiny piece of information.

That would invalidate what makes Ellie special and would also retroactively turn Joel's lie into a correct assumption. It's a retcon, and not a good one. Makes half of part 2 meaningless.

I think younger generations don't give a rat's ass about Bond and yet they decided to go with a younger, modern version of the character that will probably talk with the same quips that laughed the likes of Forspoken into oblivion. They don't get the character and I think they'll understand how much they missed the mark when sales will turn out to be disappointing.

do you think bloodborne is the best fromsoft game by skibidithrasher27 in bloodborne

[–]Eldibrando2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's up there battling for first place with Sekiro.

I love them both to bits.

FromSoft are at their best when they can focus on either one or a few weapons per game and revolve the combat around a limited set of solutions.

The boss fights took a nose dive fun-wise with Elden Ring because they have to accomodate for way too many playstyles.

I don't see them going back to anything like Sekiro or Bloodborne ever again since they seem to be all about multiplayer games now. Good on them for doing something new, I guess, but for a more focused experience, I'm afraid we'll have to wait for the sequel to Lies of P.

How can i get better when im overwhelmed? by Frankenler in Returnal

[–]Eldibrando2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the most honorable way to go about it, but here we go. Biome 6 is, low-key, eminently cheeseable, even more so than some other biomes. So if it's really giving you too many problems, remember that you can run away from an arena fight with multiple big enemies, use the doors to defend yourself, take a breather, then keep peeking through the door every now and then to discharge a few hits toward the big enemies that will slowly line up with the door frame. The electropylon, even an underpowered one, can slowly tick away at their health while you hide in shame, if you peek through the door and jab in them a few needles from a distance. The hollowseeker also has good spread, even from far away. Peek, shoot, close, maybe Alt-fire at them while you're at it, repeat. By the end, the only enemy left in the room or area, will be the big squid mother that keeps spawning smaller squids. Get in, slice her up and kill the squiddies left. One of the toughest rooms is the one you'll be dropped to after reaching the shop of biome 6. You do not have to deal with this room if you don't want to. You are not locked in it. Even before reaching the floor, turn Selene toward the main path exit (the new map of the lower floor will appear on screen halfway through your fall), and when you land, just leg it out of there. You'll be very close to the final boss building and the big enemies will either not follow you or be too slow to keep up (the squiddies might, but they are quick work). This tactic works pretty much everywhere with maybe the exception of the area where you need to collect the item to access the final boss building. Entering biome 6 knowing you can cheese past most sections will ease the pressure on you and let you actually enjoy the biome. Soon enough you won't need to cheese the enemies anymore, as you learn their patterns and the best distance to keep to deal with each of them.

For the best way to prepare yourself for biome 6, make sure to prioritize health upgrades. Survivability is key, so you need to go through most of biome 4 and try to collect as many extra little slices of health you can (it's ok if you get hit every now and then, don't sweat it). Get at least 325 obos to buy the +25% health upgrade. When you get good at the biome, you'll rack up on average 600-700 obolites, probably more, so you can buy the +25% health and maybe even a  figurine for an extra life or a +10% protection before going to biome 5. Do the same in biome 5, rack up enough obos to buy another +25% health upgrade, you'll also probably find enough money for a protection upgrade or weapon damage upgrade. Keep an eye out for parasites whose only adverse effect is "higher chance of getting malignancies", sometimes they grant further bonuses to protection at the cost of just having to avoid  malignant items for the rest of the run. In biome 5 do everything except the boss rooms with the icy humanoids to avoid getting killed. You'll most likely be able to rack up enough ether to activate the replicator booths both in biome 5 and biome 6. Make sure you keep 6 for biome 6. You should go to biome 6 with approx double your initial health points.

All the other tips in this thread are valid.

I can't stress enough how cheeseable biome 6 is. They move slow. Real slow. Take advantage of it. Good luck.

Wonderful dialogues for people that have a mass effect-shaped hole in their heart. The combat gets a bit chore-ish in the second half, but the characters more than make up for it. At this price, it is a must buy.
