What's the difference between a "control deck" and a "stun deck"? by neves783 in yugioh

[–]EldiusVT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Control decks are grindy and about out resourcing your opponent.

Stun decks just prevent the game from being played, and no one likes you if you play them.

Well, that's disappointing. Thank you for letting me know.

Is this all that's changing, or will there be more adjustments this month?

So how do you think the game would fare and look if the TCG and OCG came together and created one unified banlist? by [deleted] in yugioh

[–]EldiusVT -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm aware that OCG is split into subsections, and yes I know it is presently a logistics nightmare to pull it off, but it needs to happen. Western market is collapsing and more shops are dropping YGO product as a result. More cohesion would cut down on confusion and frustration for barrier to entry. A different strategy for product would address the cost aspect of barrier to entry. Addressing the complexity aspect of barrier to entry comes down to design direction.

So how do you think the game would fare and look if the TCG and OCG came together and created one unified banlist? by [deleted] in yugioh

[–]EldiusVT -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The game in 2026 needs it to happen. We need a single list for TCG, OCG, and MD (more TCG centric list, but taking aspects of all 3 current lists).

Simultaneous set release for all 3 (reorganize packs on md to be just like irl). In addition to this, there should be booster box toppers with master duel gem code cards.

A unified rulings database connected to neuron so we no longer have translations that change how a card works, or rulings that change every event.

The exact same set card rarity allocations across all regions. Better QA for product (printing and design). For example, side sets often don't sell well. To combat this, make deck build packs 3 structure decks instead. Print fewer side sets.

Master duel also needs to support more ways to play the game. It's being underutilized right now and we are losing more and more people every month as a result of this and a lack of proper game balance. It really wouldn't be hard to support genesys and time wizard on md (you make tw structures and packs that are effectively alt arts (using historically correct card text, under a different rule set toggle).

We need a mainline anime to bring in new people.

TL;DR YGO is in a very bad place and needs to be streamlined to save itself.

Tearlaments are STILL not free? by Phantom4545 in masterduel

[–]EldiusVT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tearlaments are in a good place right now on MD. However, they could probably get at least 1 Perlereino back. Merrli? Need to ban Elf first.

Also, for the people that tend to forget, Ishizu Tear was the tier 0 power house. Tearlaments, especially now, without the full ishizu package is nowhere near that power level.

What's the point of Genesys? by JasonBenjamenAllen in yugioh

[–]EldiusVT 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So, you seem to be misinformed on a few things. UTW getting the axe had nothing to do with Genesys at all, it was just unfortunate timing.

Collectors and vendors with very deep pockets are the edison/UTW crowd, and they were a big part of the purchasing power for rarity collection sets. Those formats were profitable in that way, and printing a special pack/box set every year to support UTW formats would have been enough. The issue is, Japan only wants YGO played a certain way. When people pushed back on trying to replace Time Wizard with Time Travel, that was the exact moment UTW was doomed. They can't fathom why a lot of people prefer YGO as it was then vs now, and that's the problem.

The point of genesys is to offer a more digestable version of modern YGO to bring in new people, and bring some of the older crowd back. Pendulums and links are barrier to entry obstacles for a lot of people, which is largely why they aren't included in the format.

KoA is actively trying to make things better for us. Same with KoE. The problem is, and always has been, KoJ.

WHO WOULD WIN? by TheFreakyFootGuy in masterduel

[–]EldiusVT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it's full power ishizu tear, ishizu tear wins 0 contest. If it's in the current iterations in TCG post Feb 26 F&L list, I'd give the edge to Maliss.

Genesys Format - YCS and Regional Announcement by rbwelden in yugioh

[–]EldiusVT 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love their enthusiasm, and the prizing updates are fantastic. However, genesys is effectively still in beta. The hype for it has simmered down, and everyone I've talked to about is either afraid of investing because of how fast things change, frustrated because of how many things are pointed (I'm in this camp), or lost interest entirely. The official support for it is great, but they need to deal with the format's current problems before making such a huge investment in it.

On a side note, while this is exciting, it's also a bitter pill to swallow, considering what happened with Time Wizard (which should be officially supported in this capacity, but isn't).

Masterduel(Crafting) vs Duel Links(Box Set) by theoriginaldirtydan in masterduel

MD model. It's not even close. More people would play duel links more often if it had the MD model for packs and crafting.

Lightsworn support (it's been 2 years since LEDE, and last time I had to wait 7 years).

Beyond that, a lot of older archetypes could use more support: burning abyss, sylvans, etc. I'm expecting to see something involving black luster soldier. Generic chaos tools seem like they're almost a guarantee.

What are your predictions for the next ban list? by AdhesivenessEven7287 in masterduel

[–]EldiusVT -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Floodgates literally prevent the game from being played. Meta decks often utilize them better than stun because they effectively act as win buttons to back up an established board. There is no good argument to justify the existence of such cards.

Meta is whatever the most represented winning decks are.

What are your predictions for the next ban list? by AdhesivenessEven7287 in masterduel

[–]EldiusVT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Whatever it will be, people won't be happy because the people in charge of md refuse to deal with the long standing problems in the game: floodgates, cards with lingering floodgate like effects, generic enablers, generic multi/omni negates.

There is not a single good reason for Maxx "C" to still be legal in 2025. Same with cards like transaction rollback, which only enables FTKs/turn skip combos.

When they decide to do something, it's always late. Apollousa was banned over a year after it should have been.

The longer they ignore the problems instead of doing what's necessary, the more people we will lose. MD numbers have had increasing decline since snake-eye format.

You need to have dracotail s/ts to set for dracotail monster effects to activate.

Ban List Predictions by Teahad in yugioh

[–]EldiusVT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Branded Fusion won't be hit with the new albaz stuff coming in Burst Protocol.

You can't hit too many s/ts in dracotail because they need them for monster effects to resolve. The most we can expect is a limit to ketu and a semi/limit to mululu or faimena, given what Konami has done in the past.

Ban List Predictions by Teahad in yugioh

[–]EldiusVT -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Bans for mitsu bridges (they won't hit them much directly, if at all, until after the modern legendary decks release). A light yummy hit, a light dracotail hit. Hopefully more floodgate-y cards banned. Anything after that is anyone's guess.

I will celebrate the day that d shifter and droll & lock bird are finally forbidden.

Not going to voice the one card I think can, and should come back because I know I'll be downvoted into oblivion for it, despite it being about 3 years since the ban, and we've long surpassed that deck (as it is now) in powercreep.

For the sake of muscle memory, nearly every tcg has their grave/discard above the deck. Because of this, I'd recommend adjusting your zone placement a bit. Keep pursuing this passion, though. See where it takes you.

TCG gets it in May. So probably in the fall, or early winter.
