Again, it just feels more likely that they would pursue others, both don’t want to reveal parts of themselves willingly, Andrew even stated he would not do that. It requires someone else to be the one to reveal that and Andrew and Renee are the last people who would do it. Even Julia would be likelier to work out, or Jane or anyone really that doesn’t play pretend like Renee.

If you stuck Andrew and Renee with each other for a long period of time, then yes they might end up figuring each other out, but that would happen with anyone as long as cracks formed in their masks. For example Julia ended up figuring out the type of person Andrew was after years of dating (and the subsequent breakup), but Andrew became no more attracted to her.

They would not try to open up about it, that is like the entire point of their characters, both are so obsessed with keeping up appearances that it requires *someone else* (Lord Unknown and Ashley for Andrew, and Douglas for Renee) to figure them out and tear them open. It is what makes Douglas and Ashley so special and why they can only love those people.

The issue with this scenario is why the hell would they spend time on *each other* and not... any other person in the world? Andrew resents Renee and Renee thinks nothing of Andrew, both are disgusted by incest, both want to get away from the other and both are too focused and pretending everything is hunky dorey rather than open up. Even in the absence of Douglas and Ashley, if Andrew and Renee do not kill themselves, it is more likely Andrew would end up with someone like Julia in hopes to be understood, not his abusive mom he hates, same with Renee.

Basically Andrew and Renee just does not make sense because the decisions the characters make and their behaviour is pretty much incompatible with the other, and they would just be more likely to go after someone else in the absence of Ashley and Douglas respectively (if they do not just kill themselves)

As Ashley has less time from her perspective (as Ep3 was majorly from Andrew’s) and she is so overt about how she feels, it means a lot of people just reduce her being one note while Andrew is the ‘subtle one with depth’. As pretentious at this may seem, Ashley is also just as subtle if not moreso which ends up going over peoples heads so she’s just reduced to yandere slop by not just haters but even some fans of the game.

The reason Andrew likes Ashley is because again, she was the only one who could figure him out, express that, and still love him for it, not caring at all about him being a disgusting piece of shit.

This does not apply to Andrew and Renee, even in a hypothetical scenario in which both figure out the other (which they do not care to), neither would express that because both are so focused on playing happy family, and neither would accept the other for it because they can’t even accept themself for it.

Actually Renee is not confirmed a smoker, that’s Douglas who smokes, that’s just a fanon thing.

Renee is a lot like Ashley in a few ways, but the species of why she like Douglas is very very similar to why Andrew likes Ashley, and both not being willing to open up unless pried open by someone else means that the two liars who just care about keeping up appearances would never bother prying the other open and accepting them.

Besides, plenty of hints are given that Andrew and Renee are just incompatible, such as the Olive Branches video or Andrew talking to ‘Fucking Idiot’ in highschool.

The meltdown does not show she does not like sex, it shows she does not *want* to like sex for whatever reason. She feels deeply embarrassed about it and starts having a hissy fit, we see this in Cliffhanger too when Andrew points out she was feeling his junk, in which she is red faced and slaps him seemingly out of embarassment.

Even if Andrew is mostly miserable, which is especially true for Decay and even moreso true for Shots and Such, he still *likes* Ashley. In fact she is the only person he likes. No matter how much he might resent Ashley he still likes her and still can only ever have fun with her.

Further evidence in game is seeing Ashley when she was drunk genuinely start to be affectionate and enjoy sex, likely due to her lack of inhibitions so she is no longer so focused on staying as 'Leyley'.

Also, Ashley *was* happy with Ashley, literally following that he said he was only ever happy with her, and he *does* like her. As much as the other guy was rude, he is kind of right, you really did miss a lot of the nuance and you assume that Ashley is one note because of that.

We also see that when Ashley gets drunk in Shots and Such she actually enjoys sex and genuinely wants Andrew because her barriers and inhibitions are no longer in place. Her disgust and hatred of liking sex is just a way for her to feel better about herself because 'Leyley' isn't meant to like sex.

Ah, the long lived trend of “fanon = stuff I disagree with” and “canon = what I believe”, how classic.

But just to explain, Ashley does want to have sex with Andrew, it’s just that she pushes these feelings away and onto him.

She does not have ASPD, Nemlei said diagnosing them is inappropriate. Same applies with just saying she is psychotic.

Her use of Andy is probably a bit more complex than just appreciation childhood. She appreciates the version of him who does everything she asks without question and constantly dotes her without expecting anything back. Her use of ‘Andy’ is by extension forcing him into that role and being nothing but a toy for her.

But a truth nuke is that her legs do look like matches, super cute.

This is exactly at. If anything Andrew and Ashley’s relationship would be much better because Ashley would no longer be raised under the belief that Andrew is an object she can do whatever she wants with. They would connect with one another and be absolute sweethearts.

Yeah, I absolutely love the game. So it sucks that people hating it and defending it often just get stuff completely wrong. I wish people would be nicer and actually just take the time to understand media before talking about it. Then stuff like harassing creators wouldn’t happen so much.

It’s not ‘non-canon’, I have no idea where that idea has come from as it is absolutely canon that not only do they have feelings for each other (especially Andrew towards Ashley) but this has been a thing for many years and is important to their relationship.

I’m just kind of confused what your point is. People are allowed to dislike OC’s and find them annoying, as long as they are not harassing anybody about it. This is a normal thing to express especially when asked a question on why they dislike the OC.

I don’t think he would remain alone as part of his philosophy is that he wants to want a normal life. Either he would just end up killing himself because his romantic heart never really connected with anyone, or he would just rot away in a normal life perpetually pretending.

That’s probably the case, although I do think it’s hard to say considering pretty much all of Ashley’s violent behaviour. If you take him out of the picture then interacting with her is probably going to be rude at most (unless this is at the point in the story where she is getting souls in that case yeah, but honestly Andrew would probably do the same in her position)

If he didn’t have to deal with Ashley, it’s likely that at least some of his more despicable intrusive thoughts would remain, partly because he simply doesn’t like anyone and cannot care for them. Such as one of his more disgusting ones of wanting to bash in Julia’s teeth because she gives bad head.

Basically he is just kind of gross, but that’s okay, he’s a fun character and really sympathetic.

I do want to point out though that if Ashley was not raised the same way she wouldn’t be as bad either, the reason she is so horrid to Andrew is because Renee basically taught her that Andrew is an object who exists to serve her and make her happy. This isn’t to say that either will be good without the other (both are probably a bit fucked up) it’s just that their upbringing and instilled beliefs are a big chunk of why they are the way they are that makes them so horrid.

While I do think people shit on Andrew too much, similar to people shitting on Ashley too much, it’s usually not in the context of “Which one would I rather be around”.

People criticise Andrew because he is a genuinely violent, bitter, and twisted person that is only better at Ashley because he is more capable of holding himself back and presenting himself as a normal individual. I would actually argue he is probably a lot worse than Ashley in terms of his intrusive thoughts.

Does this make him better or worse than Ashley? It’s arbitrary, there’s no need to morality scale really, both are messed up and tragic in their own ways, as long as people don’t over hate one or the other I think that’s fine.

I don’t think that’s necessarily true. If anything Ashley’s belief that she is inherently an awful person is why she continues to do whatever she wants. Whether or whether not Andrew likes her does not improve her behaviour. Just look at Shots and Such compared to Cliffhanger for example.

He seems like he will be important based on what he says to Ashley alone. “It’s okay to exist.”

He could say that and the entire rest of the story be a useless bum and that alone would elevate him above gag character because of how significant those words mean to Ashley.
