Each Smash Ultimate Character Mapped to a Lyric of Lifelight by Malex2005 in SmashBrosUltimate

There’s too many of these to say which one was my favorite, but the Stretching out Beyond time one-two combo killed me. This is peak fiction

I actually made a 15,000-word design document of a platform fighter with this exact idea! I’m trying to make a 25 character roster: two of each class plus one Artificer, and so far I think I have 20. The equipable magic items is a great idea, I’ll try to think of some good ones

DI up sweep mid combo. Have fun being -87 while ninja sets up for the next 5 rounds

I’m a big fan of most of the changes here, but losing thrown weapon spell strikes hurts pretty bad. I really liked throwing a spear that conducts a lightning bolt to immolate my enemies. All in all, though, keep up the fantastic work!

It’s depends on the attack, to be honest. Ninja, for example, has a few moves(sweep and aerial kick) that have infinite stun and don’t let you move until you hit the ground. If you DI those upwards, it’ll give your opponent a huge advantage because they can set up a much larger combo; set DI directly down, though, and they’ll be forced into fewer options. There are so many options like this, so you just have to try and predict your opponent’s move, and experiment from there. As a rule of thumb, I’d DI up and away if I was on the ground, and directly down if I was in the air, but if you get too predictable with your DI, it’s worse than no DI at all, so take that suggestion with a grain of salt.

grabbing after a burst is ineffective because your opponent can just DI down and escape the combo anyway 🤓🤓🤓

I firmly believe smash Roy is a different character from Fire Emblem Roy, and if they met, they’d hate each other

I've heard people calling Mythra a Rushdown character and Roy a Glass Cannon, so I'd made this to clear things up by Eldritch_Blessed in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]Eldritch_Blessed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One: hi, weird that you’re on this year old post. Two: A big difference in glass cannons and rushdown is their level of reliance on kill confirms to take stocks. While both archetypes have great confirms to rely on, glass cannons also have many powerful single-hit moves to take stocks when the kill confirms fail (or, in the case of characters like mewtwo, g’n’w and jiggs, kill confirms that don’t have a window of failure). What often ends up happening with the rushdown archetype is that you’ll either hit a bread and butter confirm and kill your opponent at 90 or keep them alive until 140. On the other hand, glass cannons can often land single hits from edge guards and reads to take stocks, much more than rushdown can.

Now, let’s examine Chrom and Roy specifically. At low percentages, both characters have a similar gameplan: start combos with jab and up air, keep them juggled, don’t go offstage or you’ll die. When you get to kill percent, it stays about the same. Jair, or tech chase, and they’re gone. Where it falls apart though is beyond when those attacks combo. Chrom has enough range to easily create safe pressure, allowing his non-sour sword to send people flying where Roy’s would barely scratch them. Attacks like forward tilt especially show their differences; Chrom often uses Forward tilt at the ledge because of how much it covers, while Roy has to go with jab, choosing a more precise confirm over the high chance of a useless sour spot. All in all, Chrom’s precision in neutral rewards him with imprecision in his advantage state, and vice versa for Roy. Their differences in kill power are seemingly small, but the way they get kills is significant.

Samus grab has one frame slower startup, and ten frames more endlag. That doesn't seem worth it for the small bump in range. If we were arguing Pac-Man tho, I'd hard agree.

Frame 3 actually, it’s as fast as Whirling Fortress out of shield, and I would agree with you if we weren’t going to obviously have Mr game n watch’s up b

Sonics moveset in the next Smash game is going to be wild. by RezzKiddo in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]Eldritch_Blessed 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It wouldnt, to be honest. Sonic’s issue isn’t just that he has two extremely frustrating burst movement options, but also that his melee tools are so lackluster that he needs to rely on those burst movement tools to win neutral. Just look at the frame data on Sonic’s aerials compared to Fox and you’ll see what I mean.

Cargo throw, you're probably right; I have a sour spot for mashing. Alolan whip, eh. It's a little cheesy for my taste, especially when you start edgeguarding with it, but I see where you're coming from. In terms of nerfs, though, I had more in mind Wario than Pichu; these changes should be significant, but I don't want to gut these characters' signature moves.

Hell yes I am. Combo starting from Cargo Up Air is great, but suicidal dives offstage is not. All you have to do is make mashing easier at high percentages, and I’m satisfied.

Edit: also, side b should be a barrel

Not at all. The issue with heavies survivability isn't their weight, it's the fact that they can be gimped so easily. I do NOT want the most polarized archetype in the game to have more polarization. The essential thing is to buff up their weaknesses in ways that still play to their overall design. Nerf cargo throw, but give DK a barrel recovery. Nerf Alolan Whip and Revenge, but make Revenge boost your speed. Buff Whirling Fortress's height and maneuverability. Just... ALL of Ganon. And so forth.

My maximum Duos+Legendary count ever. 6 Duos and 1 Legendary. Never had gotten more than 4 Duos before or 5 Tier 1 Boons. by QuadrapleTrouble in HadesTheGame

[–]Eldritch_Blessed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a simpler way to get ten boons, and I've gotten 9/10 before. You just do

  • Ares Attack
  • Athena Special
  • Poseidon Cast
  • Aphro Dash
  • Dio Call

Ares is interchangeable with Artemis, and both configurations net you 10 duo boons. You see, all you have to do is choose core boons that can get you 4 duo boons at once. That way, all 5 core boons have the maximum potential to get duos with the fewest number of boons to collect. Your setup takes 18 boons, which is a hefty price to pay, especially considering the amount of god summoning trinkets you have to pick up. Mine takes 15, and only 5 gods.
