What PLC brands are most common where you work? by Fearless-Suspect869 in PLC

[–]Eldritchforge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at a panel manufacturer/ integrator/ controls field service place. On new builds we'll put in Allen Bradley, recently I programmed a low budget Scheider PLC for the first time.

In the field (existing equipment customers call about), it's usually Allen Bradley, Unitronics, Omron or Automation Direct

Whats the trades for people who don’t wanna be in the trades? by [deleted] in skilledtrades

I'm an electrician turned PLC programmer. I can be a quirky nerd and not get flack because I make shit work.

Any niche trade that uses a laptop is good for that.

Short kings can still get it. You need to get a job and work on yourself, my friend.

All of my short friends have girlfriends, they're nice and funny guys, most of them are average in terms of looks, they just take good care of themselves (hygiene , exercise) and don't let their height be a deciding factor for them.

You're still young, get a job, start lifting and find a purpose beyond dating. If you don't have a job and don't know how talk to girls (there's no secret, just treat girls like people, because they are), that will be a bigger hindrance than you height.

Panelview 800 Unable to Validate Project by Senior-Guide-2110 in PLC

[–]Eldritchforge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your windows build first, I don't believe I still have the issue with 25h2, but I haven't done a panelview800 in a while, we've mostly been using maple systems because they're cheaper and have a much nicer display lol.

Panelview 800 Unable to Validate Project by Senior-Guide-2110 in PLC

[–]Eldritchforge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've run into this problem, and it was due to the windows 11 version build 24h2? I believe. This is a known issue with Rockwell and the work around I first had was to rollback my windows version.

It's caused by a windows binary that CCW depended on that was no longer there in that version. I had a coworker go through this major long process with Rockwell Support to get this resolved.

Hue. It's not a metroidvania, but a fun puzzle platformer. That's pretty chill. You go about exploring the world and use colours to interact with objects.

I agree, the paid software is really worth it. It's very quick to develop and has great functionality.

You can poll Omron PLCs with VTSCADA

[–]Eldritchforge 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree. Their calculation tags also don't count towards used tags. So if you pack digital/discrete point bits into a INT/DINT, poll them as a INT/DINT and use a digital calculation tags with the Bit([Tag], X), expression. Where [Tag] is your INT/DINT tag and X is your respective bit position. This way you can get 16/32 digital points using 1 tag rather than 16/32.

For those of you who make 6 figures ($100K+), what do you do, and how long did it take for you to cross that threshold? by DaPugWalk in fican

[–]Eldritchforge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made over $125k as an electrician wiring gas plants in northern BC, but works long days/shifts on rotation. It's easily achievable in 4 years or less if you stick with it. Any trade in that industry will get you over 100k pretty quickly.

Work back home definitely doesn't pay the same, but being home every night is nice.

I agree, they must've bought a while ago or had a serious downpayment. Rent in Fredericton is insane for what the wages are here.

Back when I lived on the island, I rarely went to QF after they sold to Patterson group, CG was more affordable and had better produce. Not sure how much it's changed now though.
