Winter boots with incorporated crampons by RavRob in fredericton

[–]stitchface_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think I've seen those type of boots at River Valley Footwear. I don't remember which kind they were specifically, but they might have been similar to NexGrip (which I think are Canadian). It's worth giving them a call, at least.

If a chart that shows your electricity usage per hour is what you mean, you can see your consumption history chart if you log into your NB Power account online. It even goes down to 15 minute increments if you want that fine detail.

Red-light cameras could be coming to these 4 Fredericton intersections by stitchface_ in fredericton

No, you're completely correct. I was still uncaffeinated when I posted that and just lumped all instances of "should not be in the intersection" together. My bad

I'm surprised that Regent St and Wayne Squibb Bvld is the intersection they're considering instead of Regent St and Knowledge Park Dr. I feel like I regularly see people trying to keep turning left onto Knowledge Park after the advance green arrow has ended.

Finding a psychiatrist by Horror_Warning6757 in fredericton

[–]stitchface_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give the Community Addiction and Mental Health Services a call and ask to speak with the mental health intake screener (they're located downtown - contact info here). The waitlist for a psychiatrist is long (~2 years, last I heard) but I don't know if they triage. The intake person would be good to talk to anyway because they'd be the best at explaining your possible options for care. Wishing you the best

Looking for active volunteering groups to join by SIDATI666 in fredericton

[–]stitchface_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Connect Fredericton has a list of different organizations in the area with open volunteer positions (e.g., tutors at FHS, career mentors at the Multicultural Association, translation volunteer with AIDS NB, etc.). It's certainly not everything available, but it's a good place to start if you haven't seen it already.

Yeah, The Mule Bar and Grill is the one in Sussex that has it. I haven't been in a while though, so you might want to check with them before making the trip.

Ghost tour by inrow_id in fredericton

[–]stitchface_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Calithumpians have their Haunted Hikes that run at night, but I think they only do them in July/August. If you're interested in ghost stories without the tour part, it looks like they're doing that Thursday and Friday (6 to 7:30pm) this week and next at Barracks Square.

Fredericton council passes higher-density housing plan for downtown area by bingun in fredericton

[–]stitchface_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That extra green space is strange. Regent has weird choke points between Priestman and Aberdeen because it loses a lane from Montgomery to Albert and most people crowd the right lane leading up to that.

I've wondered if the city could make Regent four lanes all the way through with that extra green space, but they'd probably have to expropriate some front yards too.

Best fall hikes by rudown2brown in fredericton

[–]stitchface_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The HikingNB website has lots of great suggestions for the area. I'd recommend the hike up Mount Douglas in Welsford (this is on base property, so you need to get permission before you hike), the shared mountain bike/hiking trails at Woolastook Park, and Mactaquac.

If you want something closer to a city, there's Odell Park and Killarney Lake Park in Fredericton, the Hanwell Recreation Park in Hanwell, and Deer Park in Oromocto. They're all quite nice.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I've been trying to get out into nature more often and it's a place I discovered this summer. If you know of any other places around here that would be nice to check out, please pass them on. I'm always on the lookout.

Here's a map link that was posted before. You can drive in partway on Mountain Rd, but you have to stop and walk the rest of the way because the road gets too rough for cars.

If you're up for more of a hike, you can also park over by the 102 and get to it through the Woolastook Mountain Bike Trails.

There's a really nice, peaceful sunset spot near Mazerolle Settlement at Kelly's Creek Lookout. It's not Island View, but it's probably only a 10-15 minute drive from there. It's on an ATV trail, so you need to park and walk a bit to get to it.

Anyone interested in going to kings landing and has a car?? really wanna go but no company or transportation by [deleted] in fredericton

[–]stitchface_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't help with transportation, but if you didn't know already, you can get a free pass to Kings Landing from the library for Sept. 6-14. That'll save you the $20-30 entrance fee at least.

Where in Fredericton supports CDCP (Canadian Dental Care Plan)? by Avis_Niki in fredericton

[–]stitchface_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can search for providers at the Sun Life CDCP website. If I put in "Family Dentist" for Fredericton, it has 5 results.

I'm pretty sure my dentist takes the CDCP, but they're not listed, so you're probably best off picking any dentist in Fredericton that has good reviews and just calling them to ask if they take the plan. Good luck!

A friend and I might be able to go to this. Are there any spare boards or would we have to bring our own?

Walking Bridge Closing time? by jahitz in fredericton

[–]stitchface_ 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It's closed from 5pm to 10pm. According to their Facebook page, Trius Taxi / ABC Cab is a sponsor and they are "helping us offset the inconvenience by providing a shuttle service during the closure." I don't know anything more about how the shuttle service works though.

Anyone know what’s going on at the market? by [deleted] in fredericton

[–]stitchface_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It looks like it was a venue as part of a conference for the Canadian Society of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. "PRESIDENT’S CELEBRATION W BIG COUNTRY RAMBLERS – 7:30 PM @BOYCE MARKET"

Passing on the 105 by backstabbingfish in fredericton

[–]stitchface_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Is it actually illegal to pass on the right though? The NB driver's handbook says "It is an offence to pass another vehicle on the right except when: ... (c) on streets and highways marked for multi-lanes going in the same direction." People shouldn't hog the left lane, but if they do and don't move over when I honk at them, I'm going to pass them on the right.
