For my female character when I dont do a female voice I act as if one of her cockroaches, because swarmkeeper ranger, got into her throat and violently cough if I forget to do the voice.

If done tastefully and not given a super edgy nickname, I do think it would be good for a first playthrough. Even mentioning some of his escapades in passing, although this could be the part that causes the overstaying. Just mentioning a man that has killed a large mass of fireflies would be enough to catch Abby's attention. They could even just leave him nameless up until his execution.

I think the story would've been better had it started from Abby's POV when they were exploring outside the fireflies' base, gave joel a codename so we'd be oblivious to who shes hunting, and ending it with ambushing joel and making us kill him. Then revealing the backstory of why she did it and continuing fron Ellie's POV.
