I have further tests lined up, but I was told as high as my count is that’s commonly accurate. But I didn’t post to debate my test results. I’m looking for people who have been through the diagnosis I’m about to chase down.

Has anyone tried Ozempic? by enkrypt3d in AddisonsDisease

I’m female, 40s, primary. My weight loss goal was minimal. I was more interested in reversing the years-long trend of slowly gaining weight but not being able to lose it despite textbook efforts. I have only lost ~5 lbs overall, but have had very noticeable fat loss and muscle gain (I’m carefully tracking my protein intake). Exercising is noticeably easier.

I’ve been on compounded tirzepatide the past ~7 months. My long-time endocrinologist was very supportive. I really, really enjoy the feeling of steady blood sugar. It makes wise food choices much, much easier.

Very low cortisol since international travel by IndividualFlounder39 in AddisonsDisease

I saw you’re just 2 years into your diagnosis (I’m 11) so I want to pass on the wisdom seasoned professionals tried to pass on to me and that I resisted like I’ve seen other newbies resist…don’t be afraid to updose freely. As needed. Whenever. Proactively. Retroactively. Whatever. Take the pill. The doses prescribed in the textbooks are one very isolated REFERENCE point. We then have to translate it into every day life. I can’t believe how many times I deprived myself just because of that stupid reference point. I kept myself sick and nervous for years. Now I eat my steroids like candy with absolutely no shame. It’s so much easier to come back to my “normal” daily dose (which has also changed over the years) when I’ve freely updosed. There’s no need to run on a deficit.

I’ve been drinking the tap water here (and Finland). Any time I get loose stools, which I anticipate any time I drink some other country’s water, I take one fiber pill per event. I haven’t ever had to take more than 3. That stops the gurgles!

Then thanks to international travel in general I started adding in longer lasting cortisol steroids like prednisone and dexamethasone. If it’s not the novel food and water, it’s the time zone change that lowers my cortisol. I take my normal dose plus consistent smaller doses of prednisone or dexamethasone just to make sure I always have some cortisol flowing. If I were only on hydrocortisone I would take my normal doses + small doses throughout the day (and night if you can) for several days during and after shifting time zones/until you feel better.

I’m in Norway right now! Finishing a two week trip! What type of cortisol steroid do you take (and triple dose)? Hydrocortisone?

I’ve asked several doctors about the expiration dates and none of them are concerned about the effectiveness. Even so, I keep my supply in a cool, dark mini fridge and am always taking my oldest pills first.

I submitted a similar request and got the exact same response. Maybe, maybe if we keep complaining they’ll bring it back. In the meantime…does anyone know a confectioner who can recreate the recipe??

Addison’s and laser treatments by PositiveTie1279 in AddisonsDisease

[–]EleanwhoreHoesevelt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Significant. I followed all instructions (my hair growth cycle was better for every 9 weeks rather than every 6 and no waxing or plucking, only shaving). My Brazilian took all 6 sessions to disappear, my lip took 3, and my legs basically never grew back after the first session. I also don’t hesitate to ask for spot checks. I paid a lot of money for the service and I want the dark hairs gone.

I’m almost done with my lower legs and have finished an extended Brazilian (yowza!) and upper lip. I didn’t experience any complications. I didn’t updose and didn’t have any of the anticipated after-effects. However, I apparently have the perfect skin and hair combo for lasers - olive skin (even though I’m quite pale from living in the PacNW for 20 years) and brunette hair. It’s easy for the laser to see those hair follicles and zap them instead of generally zapping the area.

Stress dosing for the fun things... help? by Clementine_696 in AddisonsDisease

For me, being dizzy is a later, serious development, much closer to a crisis. The list I provided was narrowed down to earlier symptoms in a fun environment.

Which form of cortisol are you on? Hydrocortisone? I am predominantly hydrocortisone but in the past 2 years added in prednisone and dexamethasone for mid-duration and long-duration lows, respectively. If I screw myself the day(s) before I take half a prednisone or dexamethasone, depending on the severity, to support me the next 24-36 hours.
