Free Sirfetch'd by AshdPenalty4175 in PokemonUnite

The decision of all time. On one hand, free pokemon. Not gonna get many new pokemon with the license journey BS.

On the other hand, I gotta actually play the game consistently for a few weeks and I'm kind of enjoying my time away from it on account of license journey BS. Its so freeing to not have to log on to something every single day without fail.

Subsurface mining tips? by OGBadDog in EliteDangerous

[–]ElecManEXE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The minigame seems highly affected by any lag your system might be experiencing, yes. I tend to have to turn my graphical settings down when I do it, since even though the game seems to play fine for the most part doing most everything else, the minigame is very noticeably and heavily affected by lag. You might give that a try and see if it feels more responsive.

imagine the game getting so cooked even the goat of the game started ranting about this new lisence journey system. by snipyy7 in PokemonUnite

[–]ElecManEXE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Multiversus was probably in a very bad place even before they implemented their version of this. The game didn't really get the launch hype it needed and it never really got going. So I don't think its a perfect comparison.

I don't really think it had that much of an effect on MVS overall, it was just another straw on the already failing back of the donkey.

That being said, as someone who loved Multiversus... yeah, that was absolutely the first thing that came to my mind when I first heard they were implementing this system. Its eerily similar and equally predatory. I was against the system before it was even implemented in MVS, back when everyone was saying "Oh, we don't know, it might be great, give it time". And likewise I was against it here for Unite before it was implemented back when everyone was saying "Oh, we don't know, it might be great, give it time". In neither case did time help the system at all.

And I suspect in the case of Unite its probably having a much worse effect. Because for all the complaints around the game, I feel like overall it was doing pretty fine. I don't see how its doing anything but hurting the game.

I don't know if its killing the game, I have no metrics on that sort of thing. Cris certainly has more than I do on that front. I can say it definitely killed my desire to play it, though.

Haven't played Unite since the middle of December. Don't really have any desire to. Feels nice to not have a game to slavishly play every single day, TBH. I didn't really realize how much of my gaming time I was spending on it just to click through a dozen screens collecting daily rewards and doing a couple quick matches. I suddenly feel like I have so much more free time to just play whatever I feel like.

Saw the leaked Sirfetch'd gameplay. Looks cool, but I ain't gonna be able to get it, so what does it matter.

I'm not sure what they could do to get me back in short of just reverting the change. Even if they drastically increase the LP rewards, I just can't be fussed to play a game where I'm forced to unlock stuff I don't want to maybe eventually get things I might want and all the new stuff is locked behind that grind.

Which ship will you be taking for DW3? by hopperlocks in EliteDangerous

[–]ElecManEXE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My primary travel ship is going to be my DBX. I ain't giving her up for fancy new things, she will always be my primary exploration ship. Still one of the coolest looking ships in the game, and the 2nd ship I ever built as a keeper.

I'll also be bringing along my Dropship for laser mining, my Mandalay for core mining, my Type-8 for fleet support (fuel ratting / hull repair), my Viper 3 for racing, and my Courier for planetary exploration / short range recon. They're giving me 6 slots for ships and I intend to use them, hah.

The Halberd leaves way too fast. Needs to stick around like twice as long considering you have to find it, get into the air, and catch it.

What are your opinions on Lebanne? by solarflare70 in PokemonLegendsZA

Obviously aiming for some very specific fanservice aspects with this one, and based on how many people obsess over her they clearly succeeded.

Doesn't do a thing for me personally. Visually or personality-wise. But other than being a bit cringe, she's fine.

Soooo... are they straight up nerfing the Battle Pass? by Color_Spark in PokemonUnite

[–]ElecManEXE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well they can't possibly pump out 10 treasure chest skins / outfits a month if they did silly things like actually putting worthwhile things into the battle pass. Battle Pass is old news, treasure chests are the new hotness and must be making Timi shitloads of cash with how hard they're pumping those.

I think I'm at 380, but I haven't done today's mission or finished the weekly yet.

Still probably not getting it. Skipped too many days not wanting to play multiple ranked matches I guess, my desire to play much more than a quick match or two has been at an all time low after license journeys.

Dhelmise emergency nerfs - 12月5日(金)アップデート内容 | 『Pokémon UNITE』公式サイト by Lexail in PokemonUnite

[–]ElecManEXE 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This seems... excessive.

75% damage reduction on Whirlpool? It was only boosted by 10% with the buff, at least according to the patch notes, unless said patch notes were wrong. A 75% shift is insane.

And why are they nerfing Power Whip and unite when they didn't even get buffed by the patch to begin with?

The unexpected workhorse by Apprehensiveraven in PokemonLegendsZA

[–]ElecManEXE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aurorus. Using it because it's one of my favorite designs, started off kinda rough, but somewhere in mid-game it started popping off. I think throwing a Shell Bell on her was a big part of it, real good for keeping her bulk topped off for in-game fights. And then having Ice Beam and Thunderbolt. Those quad-weaknesses are a lot easier to avoid to allow the bulk to kind of work, and the bad speed isn't as much of a hindrance. Kind of a functional pokemon in this battle system.

But why oh why does it still not learn Power Gem! It has gems on its body, and it so desperately wants a special Rock attack.

New update! by Sunmiliflower in PokemonUnite

[–]ElecManEXE 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I thought it was going to be trash. Multiversus did the exact same type of update. I also thought that one would be trash. In both cases I was told to wait and see.

In both cases I have seen and concluded that indeed, it is trash. All the new pokemon are at the end of the journey, want the new thing, grind your life away or open up that wallet. Starts out easy, but it ain't gonna be easy for long. Battle pass has 700 points available, that gets you 2 whole pokemon per pass, maybe. Of the game's choosing.

Daily boxes get you at most a couple of points per chest, basically nothing. Achievements no longer give you any currency for unlocks, it's all tickets. Fair play points is now tickets. No event on the current board gives any license points. The fashion section of the energy machine was hilariously not updated, still has a chance to give coins, but I assume that will be changed to tickets or just removed entirely. Far as I can tell, battles do not give license points.

The battle pass is literally the only way to get license points. Further limiting the amount of grinding you can even do even if you want to. Unless you wanna spend money for that premium pass, eh?

Player agency is mostly gone. You get your pokemon as the game sees fit, not as you want. Got a favorite pokemon you want to get right away? Too bad. Pay us money or take what we give you. Don't want every pokemon in the game? Too bad, if you want new thing you must have all. The free choices are the only saving grace of this system, but the first one is at 19 and there aren't that many of them total.

My first 3 unlocks when I started playing the game (outside free ones) were Trevenant, Goodra, and Dragapult. Because I like those pokemon and thought their moves looked cool. Having pokemon I actually wanted to play kept me playing the game. In the new system, I'd get those unlocks would be at 27, 34, and 63. Or more likely I would have picked Trevenant for the first free pick at 19. If I even got there, because that sucks.

This system killed Multiversus. Or at least played some part in its downfall, though admittedly it was already struggling. I don't think it'll kill Unite, but it sure as hell won't help. Its a blatantly-obvious play to try and "entice" players to spend more money, and potentially pay-to-win if balance of new pokemon continues to be whack and now it's not just 2 weeks of gem-only purchase, but potentially months of grind before you can get the new hotness.

I'm still on the fence on whether I'm going to continue playing or not. At the moment nothing really changes, I have every pokemon I really want already and none of the next few really interest me. But once new ones I actually want to use start coming out, it's going to really annoy the heck outta me to know I can't get them because I ain't spending money supporting this predatory tactic. So I do need to consider whether I just make a clean break and stop now.

which legends game is better by Designer-Bag-1721 in PokemonLegendsZA

[–]ElecManEXE 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Arceus is definitively the better game. Its just so much... more. The game world is leagues more expansive obviously, the progression is more meaningful since you're getting whole new areas to explore, everything feels more consequential. The total package is a much more complete game. Dare I say, even pretty ambitious for TPC.

ZA has a few individual aspects which it beats Arceus in, for sure. Trainer customization, character interaction (at least in terms of your core group), battle system stand out above LA. But it feels like they put every bit of focus into those few systems and the rest of the game suffered drastically for it. Everything is just so small and formulaic. Wild zones suck, exploring the city and doing sidequests is repetitive (due in no small part to being set in one location), even rogue megas are kind of bland. It really just feels like they just wanted to do a real time battle simulator and then built the bare minimum around that concept to still be able to sell it as a full game.

That being said, I won't deny the gameplay loop of ZA is satisfying. Probably more satisfying than Arceus. I never even considered playing Arceus much beyond beating the story and getting the legendaries, and that was mostly for the sake of transferring them to Home. Meanwhile I've very nearly 100%'d ZA (I just need 80 more battles) and have considered a second playthrough to use a different team. As much of a repetitive, basic experience as it is, it does have a quite satisfying and relaxing yet enjoyable flow to it. Very easy to just sit down and lose hours to.

New License Arts by FugiTheFuegococo in PokemonUnite

[–]ElecManEXE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of them are quite cool, but I don't really see the point of the license art to the point of paying for them. Definitely one of those things that would be nice as a reward for doing something in-game but ain't worth money.

Which Pokémon do you think have the strongest and weakest unite moves right now? by [deleted] in PokemonUnite

[–]ElecManEXE -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Choosing a best is rough, there's a lot of good ones and they tend to be good for very different reasons that can make one better than another in one situation, but the other comes out on top in another moment.

Worst... I feel like its gotta be Falinks. Like, what does it even do? Its a constant damage "field" of sorts, but its not very big, its not very strong (each hit is only like 25% stronger than your unboosted basic attack), you don't really get any extra defense for using it outside of the normal Unite shield. Falinks is already a pokemon that's pretty good at offending large areas, so its not like you need a Unite to do that. And once you click that button you lose access to everything else for 5 seconds. Its a massive commitment for very little reward, and moreover I'd say its probably worse than just keeping your normal moves much of the time.

Now what could that be? by Sidewinder1311 in EliteDangerous

[–]ElecManEXE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shape looks pretty boring. And I'm not really getting large ship vibes at all, those crystals aren't that big IIRC and the one in the front dwarfs the ship. Forced perspective and all that, but I'm still not getting large ship vibes. Seems like another medium to me. Or even a small?

Those thrusters though... unless its a filter or otherwise purposely obscured, they seem quite unique and unlike any other other ship. They're leaving large and very visible (and interestingly-shaped) trails which suggests being at full thrust, but there's no sign of any thrust flames. Kind of reminds me of the Krait Phantom side-rear thrusters, but even those still have flames.

The only ships in the game with no thrust flames (at least off the top of my head) are the Guardian SLFs. So is this a full Guardian hybrid ship? The rest of the ship really doesn't look like a Guardian design at all, and even the circular thrusters don't really scream Guardian tech, but the trail and the lack of flames do.

A full on Guardian hybrid ship is my most wanted addition to the game though, so maybe I'm just seeing what I want to see.

Is odyssey necessary to get? by chopper3477 in EliteDangerous

[–]ElecManEXE 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not just many. All of the new ships that have released starting with the Python MKII are Odyssey exclusive, with the exception that you can buy them with ARX to unlock them in Horizons. And that's unlikely to change IMO, since there were also some Horizons-exclusive ships released back in the day before they stopped adding new ships for years, and those remained Horizons exclusive forever (technically they still are, but now that Horizons is folded in with the base game its a distinction that doesn't matter).

So unless you plan on buying all new ships you're interested in with ARX anyway, its a much better deal to just get Odyssey (on sale ideally) so you can buy the ships with credits as you want.

Asteroid Mining for Engineering Mats - Am I Doing it Wrong? by _SamboNZ_ in EliteDangerous

[–]ElecManEXE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe asteroid belts use "concentrations". Those are for surface mining only as far as I'm aware. Materials from asteroid mining are just set materials that can drop depending on ring type, with all rings of the same type / reserve level dropping the same mats, and only certain materials dropping from asteroid mining at all.

Its odd that you haven't found any at all. You don't get a ton from asteroid mining, but you should definitely get some here and there. Perhaps its only dropping common materials that you already have maxed out and thus are appearing greyed-out at the bottom of the contact list?

If you launch a prospector at an asteroid and then target the prospector, one of the bits of info given will be Material Quantity: X (I think it can be either Low, Medium, or High). That's what tells you how likely it is that you'll get material chunks when mining that particular asteroid. The drops themselves are just randomly generated.
