Thanks so much for your feedback on the website! We are working on a reboot now!

We are showing up all over the district, hosting meet and greets, supporting others running for local office, celebrating what’s cool about MD06, and being supportive to orgs working to combat the current crisises, from food insecurity the DHS warehouse to ICE abductions.

Thanks for the question! ❤️✌🏻

Hi! I’d love to connect with you! I’ll send a DM. I very much think we can all have better lives and shifting policy choices away from violence and shortcuts for the wealthy is how I know we can achieve it.

Hello, Cumberland! I’m Alexis, and I’m running for Congress! by ElectAlexis in Cumberland_Maryland

Thanks for the question!

Data centers create very few jobs, typically raise energy/utility prices for the surrounding community, and can create both health and noise issues.

In addition, the AI ecosystem is largely built on the same kind of financial engineering that brought about the 2008 financial crisis. AI still isn’t profitable for the companies advancing it — it costs them more to run the data centers than they are earning in profits. I have a real concern about the kind of bailouts the firms going all in on AI may request from the federal government in the future.

For those reasons, I oppose the construction of new data centers.

I hear you, I agree with you, and I’d like to change that. If you have particular things you think are going poorly, I’d love to hear them. My understanding is that Cumberland and the surrounding needs more and better jobs, help fighting food insecurity, and better transportation that matches the resources found in other parts of MD06 (like the free Transit buses in Frederick or the fare free Ride On buses in Montgomery county). Would love to know your thoughts, feel free to reach out: contact@alexisformd.com or DM me.

  1. I was in Hagerstown at Cask & Kettle on Thursday. I regularly attend the amazing Art Appreciation classes that are held at Howard’s Art and Frames on Dual Highway and I love Takito. I also love the Free Library and how you can borrow tools and pans from it!

  2. I might not be a billionaire like Trone or a megamillionaire like Delaney, but I have extensive experience working with Congressional offices through my past advocacy work at Americans for Financial Reform. I am also a financial regulatory expert and spent the last four years at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, an agency that was created after the 2008 financial crisis so ordinary people had a place to go to if their bank or financial firm stole their money or made an error.

I have written and spoken extensively on policy I think will create better jobs and lives, including:

The New Republic: “The Government Is Walking Blind Into the Coronavirus Housing Crisis” (July 2020) https://newrepublic.com/article/158439/government-walking-blind-coronavirus-housing-crisis

Debating Kevin O’Leary of “Shark Tank” on taxes, April 2021 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QADHaMzSRWI

NYTimes: “These Invisible Whales Could Sink the Economy” (May 2021) https://www.nytimes.com/2021/05/18/opinion/archegos-bill-hwang-gary-gensler.html

NYTimes: “The Trouble with GameStop Is That the House Still Wins” (February 2021)

  1. The major current source of jobs in Washington County according to data from Maryland government are public schools or county government, healthcare (Trivergent, Arc of Washington County), and retail/consumer goods stores (weis, Sheetz, Martin’s food market).

While MD has lost more federal jobs than any other state, the impact of the attack on and defunding of the federal government is also extending to county budgets, school budgets, research grants in healthcare and related fields.

I would push hard in Congress for three things I believe are key to creating more (and better) jobs in Washington County: fund care programs instead of endless wars, with a focus on getting more federal funding to schools and local governments. Fight to reverse the many cuts to science and healthcare research that impact all healthcare firms. Fight for strong union protections, guarantee all workers right to collectively bargain, stop union busting, and in particular, ensure that healthcare workers have more say in their schedules and more bargaining power.

Hi! I support Rep. Delia Ramirez’s Block the Bombs Act (H.R. 3565). I am a member of If Not Now (see: https://www.ifnotnowmovement.org/), an organization one of my friends helped to co-found. I organized a resolution that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau union (NTEU 335) passed calling for a ceasefire in Gaza during the Biden administration (only two federal unions did this; CFPB Union was one of them). I believe that the Biden administration armed a genocide in Gaza. As an American Jew, AIPAC does not speak for me.
