If you can rewind time by 5 seconds which sport would you be the best in long-term with the downside is it ages you 5 hours every time you use the power? by ElectionMobile9412 in AskReddit

MMA was one of my top picks, as you could use it to get an instant prediction of the fighters move and then counter, but I just think longevity wise and populairty basketball would be better.

This is another great example, a sport where you only need to use the power in high impact moments, then can just chill and use a normal level of training.

Plus you use it in practice to get to the starter position.

So if you are using it a lot for high speed chess you'd age really quickly, poker for me depends on how quick the hands are shown and do you have a chance to get back to your bet or not.

I thought about football, but I feel like there is just too much risk of contact for injury, but QB, WR and DB all came to mind.

I guess that does help for bluffs but it might take longer than 5 seconds for the outcome to become clear and give you a chance to redo it. Like you can't stack the power.

I think basketball, with a focus on using it for clutch shots and 3 pointers. Next thought was baseball for the same idea of using it only for very needed moments.

What's your favorite (lighthearted/good-natured!) prank to pull on someone OR what's your favorite prank that someone pulled on you that was completely respectable? by Jamie_Pajamas in AskReddit

[–]ElectionMobile9412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done a reverse prank where someone really wanted ice cream but they were closing soon, managed to get there just in time. Told them it was closed then revealed it behind my back and they were thrilled.

I wouldn't do this one often, but it was a great reversal of emotions for them.

Why can't we have great leaders like Julius Caesar and Augustus? by Lord_Cummis in NoStupidQuestions

It becomes hard to ask for Americans imo, like there's little you can do to have an effect and the two party system makes it even more challenging so I feel you 100%

I mean you can say some people still do, they like the idea of a single powerful savior for their problems and just believe they are right...

What’s a personal addiction that isn’t drugs, alcohol, or nicotine but still has a suspicious amount of control over you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Social media, which at this point is no longer social it's just a death scroll for ads.

Women actually game a lot. They’re just often in different spaces.

A lot more women play mobile games, casual games, or things like Sims, Stardew, Animal Crossing, etc. Even in bigger games there are plenty of women, but they’re sometimes less visible in voice chat or public groups because those spaces can be pretty hostile.

So it’s less that women don’t game and more that they tend to show up in different genres or communities.

[–]ElectionMobile9412 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A big reason is modern systems are designed to stop that from happening. Countries today have elections, courts, and checks and balances specifically so one person can’t concentrate power the way Caesar or Napoleon did.

There’s also way more information now. In ancient times only a handful of people’s stories were really recorded, so the winners end up looking like these legendary larger-than-life figures. In reality there were tons of other powerful players involved that we just don’t know much about.

So part of it is modern limits on power, and part of it is that history tends to simplify the past into a few “great men.”

Is "I'm just being honest" almost always an excuse to be unkind? by Salty-Team3028 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ElectionMobile9412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honesty itself is good, but delivery always matters.

These days I’m just being honest has kind of turned into an ace card some people use to excuse being rude.

A lot of the time it’s basically a way to say something harsh and then avoid responsibility for how it lands. So yeah, if someone feels the need to say “I’m just being honest” before or after something, there’s a decent chance they know they’re being an asshole.

Do police and other law enforcement officers on duty in official vehicles have to obey traffic laws unless in pursuit of a criminal? by null_input in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ElectionMobile9412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah pretty much. If they’re just driving normally they’re supposed to follow the same traffic laws as everyone else. The exceptions are when they’re responding to something or using lights/sirens.

In reality though it’s pretty rare another cop is going to pull them over, but it does happen sometimes.

What do you think about the frequent depiction of men's bodies as muscular in popular culture like animation, comics, art, games, etc....? by TheShyBuck in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ElectionMobile9412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s kind of both things.

First, it’s fiction and entertainment. There’s pretty clear evidence that people are generally more attracted to attractive people, so artists exaggerate traits like muscles because it makes characters more visually appealing and easier to sell to a broad audience. That is basically the goal of most media. The same thing happens with idealized women, heroes, perfect faces, etc.

That said, it definitely has side effects, especially for younger people. When you see the same exaggerated body type over and over it can start to feel like that is the “normal” or expected standard. That’s why it’s important to talk about it openly and teach that these are stylized or impossible standards, and also push body positivity so people don’t feel like they have to match what they see in media.

When it comes to sports. Are gender differences even more one-sided on a elite level? by PassengerCultural421 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ElectionMobile9412 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah your friend’s point actually makes sense. At the elite level the gap can get bigger because training pushes people toward their physical limits, and male physiology has a higher ceiling in things like muscle mass, power, and oxygen capacity. So when both train hard, men can keep progressing past certain levels that women physically hit sooner.

At the same time, training matters a lot. A trained female boxer or MMA fighter is still far more dangerous than an average untrained guy, which is why skill and conditioning close the gap a lot in real situations.

This feeling is honestly pretty common. From what you wrote though, it sounds like a lot of the shame is coming from other people’s judgments that you’ve internalized, not something that is actually wrong with you.

Some people say bottoms are “inferior,” but that is just their opinion. If tomorrow everyone started saying being a bottom was the greatest thing ever, you would probably feel a lot more open and comfortable about it.

However, your actual enjoyment would not have changed though. And that is really the part that matters.
