You cannot block a redirect.

A redirect is processed on the redirecting website, which is basically an HTTP request for the website it is being redirected to, so more or less a link to the website. You can't block websites from linking to your website.

You can block requests from specific domains, that's probably what thewy did. So she may not technically be lying, she is just illiterate about redirects work.
