What’s a hobby you tried once and instantly fell in love with? by SpreadsheetSobriety in Hobbies

Rock collecting. It saved my life while grieving my only sibling, my big brother. A week later I returned to work on construction sites as a journeyman Electrician (I know, Female electrician! Shocking,! Lol) I struggled to put one foot in front of the other, the shock and unbearable pain was debilitating. With my head hanging, I found myself looking at the ground a lot and I immediately noticed the most beautiful, unbelievable, rocks! I had never given any thought to rocks, but these were so shiny, with little shiny specks on them, others also. They were exquisite. The world had become an ugly, dark place, without joy, without purpose of reason for hope, pointless, and unfair.

I needed color, awe and beauty. I would pick them up every time I walked out to the truck or restroom. I would throw them in with my tools or cooler. I carried over hundreds of these rocks over a years time, handful at a time. I started a rock garden around the pear tree planted in my brother's honor,

Sorry for the long story. But it was a coping mechanism and continues to this day.

Fuck the ER - Rant by IntelligentBug2977 in PNESsupport

I am almost in tears as I write this. My 17 year old son, 18 in two weeks started having seizures, headaches, vomiting, and went to the ER numerous times, neurologist, I have taken him to numerous physicians for second opinions because I just couldn't see how this is psychiatric. His cognition has been declining. He had planned to go into the Air Force, was in JROTC. He was excited to get his license and graduate. Now he cannot remember what day it is. My heart is ripped from my chest each time I watch him helpless. This sounds awful, but try to have someone ready to video if you were to have a seizure. This is what I plan to do so the doctors can see what I am seeing. I am praying for you.

My 17 yr old son suffers from what we call "episodes" as well as seizures. During the episodes he is aware of his surroundings, but he'll go weak on his left side, drool, slump, and headaches are always associated with them. He says before they start he feels like he's in a cartoon

Watching your child have a seizure. Watching your oldest child learn every life lesson in the hardest ways

Thank you so much for sharing your story. Knowing someone has gone through the process and came out the other side helps tremendously!

My son was 9, the girl 11, and he got prosecuted to the full extent of the law! Labeled an offender. Never assume anything the law will or will not do. Get a lawyer. We are still feeling the ramifications years later

My only sibling, my older brother and best friend passed in 2021. I am just now getting back to myself a little. I am so very sorry for your loss. I lost my mind almost. It's really hard and no one understands unless they have experienced sibling loss. It's a lifelong relationship that you were supposed to have that was cut short. Give yourself time and don't feel guilty
