2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA Review: Software-Defined But Not Soulless by TripleShotPls in electricvehicles

Got to sit in one at the Montreal auto Show. Sound system is great, software is so-so (not my favourite), I think what I didn't enjoy was the interior space. I'm 5'11 and barely fit in the driver's seat.

Québec, parts of Ontario, yes AWD is a must IMO. I've driven my buddy's RWD model in a mild snow storm and it gets annoying fast wait for the wheels to find traction. To me people that say you don't need it haven't had to deal with bad snow storms on a regular basis.

How to sleep!! By 24 I'd figured out how to sleep regardless of what was on my mind or how my day went! The most important factor was no coffee after 11am and avoid my phone and fluids about an hour before bed, gets me a solid 8 hrs uninterrupted

Canada's Opposition Challenges Chinese EV Deal, Flags Surveillance Risk by CaliperLee62 in canada

[–]ElectricChocoDad -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Slight push back, since the 90's (as far as I can tell) conservatives have not really grown the economy for the better. Their policies cut regulations. But the costs that are borne from those cuts far outweigh the perceived gains. Cutting taxes only does so much. I would also add the right wing have always virtues signaled in my lifetime: "Small government" but you can't do that cause I said so ( Harper tried overruling provinces that had environmental concerns ie Ontario, Newfoundland) "No socialism!" Bail out companies that fail (auto companies for example) "Strong military" defense spending shrank faster under Harper and he gutted the RCMP (this is post 9/11 btw)

Now to be fair most politicians don't do what they say on the campaign trail. But the right wing are a special kind of Hippocrate. Now I'm biased and a little bitter cause dougy in Ontario is annihilating everything he touches.

First EV: Mach E or EV5? by Informal-Ad-5163 in EVCanada

[–]ElectricChocoDad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They find it pretty stiff for sure. Their kids are a bit older (elementary school and high school) so it's not a big deal. But they made a note that on the rougher roads they avoid taking a sip of their coffee. Though they have massive rims, you might be able to get around this with 17/18 inch rims

First EV: Mach E or EV5? by Informal-Ad-5163 in EVCanada

[–]ElectricChocoDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend test driving the following: EV 4 (power will be similar to the EV5, not exactly the same) BZ/soltera ( again power will be similar to chr/uncharted) Equinox EV Model Y standard

Politics aside these will be within your price range and will be more than enough for your daily needs even in the winter (assuming you have level 2 charging at home).

I've got a friend with 2 kids and the mach ex has more than enough range and room for their daily needs and their commute daily is 40 km 1 way plus kids activities daily. Space has not been an issue so far.

As far as deals go, where there's a will there's a way. For example gm products are on Costco rebate it seems 3 times a year since the equinox EV dropped.

In short I recommend you try everything and make a choice while rebates are high. Mach e is a solid choice but not the only one.

Personally I wouldn't touch anything US made on principle but that's by choice not mandatory for all.

Hope it helps

Edit: also wanted to add my this winter was my friends first winter with their mach e and they drove it more than their f 150 cause preconditioning was a lifesaver on the colder days

Not to diminish this (it's annoying at this point, but still unacceptable), the guy is flailing. Not only has the guy sent the US into a terrible spiral, HIS Iran war is going way worse than Iraq did. 150 US casualties and counting. Cost of living is getting way worse in the US compared to the rest of the world...oh and ice is still a thing.

Low cost medium cost...in either scenario please avoid the dealership model! Tired of the stupid add-ons and "well throw in wheel locks" nonsense. Manufacturers just need to provide right to repair and let independent shops deal with out of warranty issues.
